// Two weeks later, back to Kaitlynn's point of view. //
The last two weeks have been a rollercoaster.
After I left Harry's house and talked to Liam and Erin, it had really set in that he was gone now. That it was over between us and that he wouldn't be in my life anymore. Each time I walked into class, I knew he was in the back corner but I didn't dare looking over at him even for half a second.
Liam told me that he'd finally opened up about how he really felt about the parties and about his photography, but only Liam knew and not the other two. Liam knowing didn't change anything.
My last class had just gotten out for the day, which meant that Thanksgiving break had officially started. Despite the fact that I wasn't getting along with my dad right now, I was heading home. He doesn't know yet, so I could technically still not go.
As I get back to the dorm to pack the rest of my things, something in my suitcase catches my eye.
I stare at my suitcase and I feel stuck to the floor. Erin had laid my dress for the wedding in it before she had left. She left this morning. She was going to the wedding still. I'd completely forgotten about it, if I'm honest.
There's a note taped to the heels next to my suitcase. I pick it up with a sigh.
Weddings bring out the best in people. You never know what could happen...
Text me if you need me. Here's Liam's number too. I love you, bestie. -E
Without giving my brain a chance to catch up with my heart, I'm calling the airport. As soon as they answer, I have them transfer me to the ticket counter.
"I need a ticket for a flight to London. I have a ticket already but I missed it. I'll pay the fee to get it changed. Whatever it takes."
"Just one moment, Miss. Let me see what I can do for you."
//
The next day was my flight to New York. When I got to New York, I had a four hour layover before I could board my flight to London. I didn't feel like it was long enough to go do anything, so I decided to stay in the airport and find somewhere to do homework and eat. As I wandered the airport to find a place, it set in where I was.
What the hell am I doing?
I'm falling back to the cycle. I'm continuing the cycle of me yelling at Harry about telling the truth and committing and then going back to him. This is stupid. I'm stupid. But I'm too far in to back out now. I'm in fucking New York.
I find somewhere to eat, put in my headphones and blast some music, and work on my assignment for English. About three hours into the layover, I dial Liam's number. He picks up after the second ring.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Kaitlynn," I sigh.
"Oh, hello! Is everything okay?"
"Uh, I guess? I'm in New York right now."
"What? Why? I thought you were headed home."
"Your lovely girlfriend made me change my mind," I laugh lightly. "Um, my flight to Heathrow leaves in an hour. I'm going to be cutting it really close by the time I get to Holmes Chapel. Like, a matter of an hour or so if I'm lucky. Is there someone you know that can pick me up and then take me to wherever you guys are? I've already set up getting to Holmes Chapel from London, but I don't know how to get to the wedding. I'll need to go to the hotel to change and then go from there."
"You're coming here? I didn't expect that. Uh, I might be able to get a car for you. I'll make a few calls and see what I can do."
"Thank you, Liam. I owe you big time."
"Don't worry about it, love. Should I keep it quiet that you're coming?"
"Please," I nod, even though he can't see me. "I don't have a plan yet, but I don't want him to know that I'm coming."
"Okay. I'll call you back in a bit when I have information for you."
I bid him goodbye and hang up the phone. He calls back after about ten minutes, telling me that he's arranged for a car service to come get me and drive me to the hotel, then to the wedding. He gives me the phone number and instructs me to call them to let them know where I'll need to be picked up.
It's setting in even more now. I'm really leaving the country to go to a wedding to be the date of somebody who I can't even look in the eyes.
Damn me and my stupid ideals. Why must I be so set on keeping every promise I make?
Why must I give into Harry every god damn time?
