| Emma's POV |
The suns gone down but the party is still going. Someone must've brought a speaker because there's loud music and everyone keeps asking me to dance.
I've been too occupied with making sure Grayson isn't going to do something he's going to regret that I've forgotten to have fun.
"Come on Emma" pleads Ellie holding both her hands out to help me to get up off of the sand
"Go have fun, Elmo" Grayson pressures and I roll my eyes and allow Ellie to yank me up to my feet. The music briefly turns off so I grab the bottle Ethan had been drinking from and take a quick chug of it before handing it back with a smirk
"You better play something good" I shout over the voices to the girl who was in charge of the music. The random girl gives me the thumbs up and I eagerly await the sound.
The Weekend by SZA
"NO WAY I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG" I scream with an excited dance on the spot before I pull Ellie closer towards me so that we can grind against each other.
A few girls wolf whistle while the rest of us twerk upon each other, swaying our hips to the beat. We're giggling but going HARD.
YOU'VE GOTTA ADMIT ITS A PRETTY DAMN GOOD SONG.
My eyes find their way to Ethan, he's only staring at me. He's leant on his knees with his elbows so he can analyse the whole of my body. I watch as he hungrily licks his lip.
I throw my hands in the air and sway my ass in his direction and shortly after I find him covering his crotch.
The song finishes and me and Ellie slam ourselves into a tight hug while the people watching begin to hoot and clap. We take a bow and I do a subtle wink towards Ethan.
Grayson calls my name before I can make my way towards Ethan which slightly annoys me but I walk over to him anyway.
"Can we speak?" He asks trying to pry Lauren off of his side. I gulp down worried at what he might want to speak about and nod
"Of course"
I shoot Ethan a confused look before following Grayson up to where we left the car, he leans against the car bonnet and looks out onto the stars.
"I know you're worried about Lauren" he finally says glancing between me and the sky "but there's no need to worry anymore, I promise"
"I'm sorry" I find myself saying. I have no idea why but I do
"Don't be sorry, it's nice that you and E feel like you want to protect me. It's just-" he pauses fiddling with his hands. I look at them as they twiddle and then back up at him as he gulps and his Adam's apple bounces
"You can tell me" I assure and he rolls his eyes up to the sky and sighs
"I know. It's just that yours and Ethan's opinions mean the most to me and-" he pauses again so I reach out and rub my thumb over his arm to calm his obvious nerves "there's this girl"
"THERES A GIRL!" I shout and his wide eyes make me quieten down "there's a girl?" I repeat but much quieter and he nods with a small blush spreading across his cheeks "Gracie your blushing" I tease pushing him in the side.
"Yeah yeah okay shut up" he blushes further and my heart flutters. It's so nice to see him so happy.
"What's she like? Who is she? Please to god tell me that she didn't come from Rydell High I've had enough blasts from the past's to last me a lifetime" I giggle and he scratches the back of his neck
"She's not" he chuckles and I sigh with relief "but she's really pretty and I don't know- it's weird talking about feelings isn't it"
"Sure is" I agree and he bites down on his lip
"I think I want to ask her out, Em, I need help" he blurts and my eyebrows raise "I've known her for months. She goes to the same aerobics class" he says in a hushed voice because he's extremely embarrassed.
"Shut up! That's so cool" I say trying to lighten his nerves
"You think?" He asks smirking a little just at the thought of her
"Definitely" I reply "ask her tonight. Go round tell her how you feel, no stupid shit" I say finally answering his question
"Really? No flowers?" He questions and I shrug.
"Actually flowers sound perfect"
He takes a sigh of relief and then looks at me with another laugh and I ask him what's wrong and he shakes his head and looks back out onto the stars
"She picked me up from James' party. I slept there" he confesses
"NO WAY" I squeal and he nods in confirmation
"So you're like... supportive?"
"You're happy, of course!" I smile and he pulls me into a side hug and kisses my forehead "and if you sleep over me and E can have some alone time" I say sarcastically and he pretends to gag
"Thanks for being like the best friend ever"
"No problem, bro, it's the least I can do" I reply pulling away from our hug to look at the car "take it" I say motioning towards it "we'll get an Uber... go get your girl"
Grayson's face lights up and I can't help but genuinely smile, he gives me a brief hug,
"Ethan really found an ANGEL!" He shouts swinging himself into the car before blowing me a kiss.
I wave him off as he speeds from the beach to the love of his life's house to ask her to be his.
