PoV: Shadow

"I'm going to kill Tower for this."

"Sonic, what are you doing here?" Rouge grabbed him, "Don't you know how dangerous it is? Go home."

"I can't do that. There's something I need to do here, something stolen that I need to return. I'll go home when I get it. You guys can blow this place up after I'm done," I had never seen him so serious.

"Sonic you can't even fight off Rouge, what makes you think you can survive here?" I knew I pushing it, I knew it'd piss him off. I just couldn't bare the thought of him getting hurt.

"I never wanted to hurt her. I don't fight unless I need to," he said, "We can talk about this later. We've only got a few second before the guards change again. Let's head out."

He took off in the blink of an eye.

"Looks like his speed was real," Rpuge commented.

"Yeah... Let's go," we ran after him, staying hidden in the tall grass.

We reached the fence, I was about to teleport us in and Sonic held his hand out in front of me.

"There're cameras inside. If you teleport is into the wrong location the alarms will go off," he whispered.

"Nice burn on Shadow," Rouge smiled.

"... this way," Sonic lead us to the right.

The he did something I didn't normally see. He curled up into a ball and spun, digging into the dirt like a drill. The hole was hardly big enough for us to fit. We followed him and we turned up at the side of a few crates. Sonic was already at the top. I got the chance to actually see what he was wearing. His bullet proof vest only covered his chest. He had a slim black top underneath. His black pants had padding on the sides and his knees.

"We part ways here," he said pulling me out of my gaze, "I'll be back soon."

"Sonic!" I whispered a shout as he lept in and disappeared.

"What the hell is the point of this mission?" Rouge whispered as we tried looking for him.

"The hell should I know?" I tried looking around for him. I caught a glimpse of him before he disappeared again, "This way."

"Shadow, we need to complete the mission too," Rouge grabbed me, "We'll search for him to, but we have to trust him. Let's set up the bombs as we look."

"Alright. Let's go," I nodded.
                                                                        
                                                                        
PoV: Sonic

To think this happened after I retired. But it's kinda fun.

"You think they'll figure it out?" I asked.

"Most likely, after a while. Though they're so distracted over you, they may fail this," Tower said.

"It's nice to see them working together, they fight a lot at home," I said.

"Why don't you give me a verbal report? Liyah can write it down for us," he said.

PoV: Shadow

"Is that the last of it?" Rouge asked as I set up the final bomb.

"Yeah, let go find Sonic," I said.

"No need," Sonic showed up in front of us, "I'm right here."

"Did you find what you were looking for?" Rouge asked.

"Nope," he had a smile on his face.

"What?! You were so serious about it before, what happened?" She hugged him.

"It didn't exist," he said.

"Huh?"

"I lied," he smiled, "Sorry."

"Why would you lie on a mission?"

"Because it wasn't a real mission," Commander Tower announced, "It was a test of your partnership. It was to determine how much more time your need to live with Sonic before the program ends."

"You guys are a great duo," Sonic had a nervous look, no. He's not separating us is He?

"You two work well together as always, but," Commander began, "You let your third partner leave without any details of where he was going or the amount of danger. In which case, Sonic could have been killed. So you failed. You'll be staying with Sonic for three more months."

Oh thank chaos.

"Yes sir," we answered.

"You may leave now," he left and I took Sonic's hand.

"Rouge," I called her.

"Coming," she clung to Sonic and grabbed my other hand.

"Chaos Control," we were back in our living room.

"I'm gonna take a bath," Sonic stretched, "Rouge."

"Yes~" she got a big smile on her face.

"Don't follow me," he stated.

I held my breath to keep from laughing. Sonic left and it was the two of us.

"So, we stay for five months now. It's already been four. Glass a wine to celebrate?" She offered me a glass.

"I've gotten used to this place," I said.

"It doesn't have to end you know. We wouldn't have to tell anyone. We could buy a house, and have have Sonic stay with us there. We don't have to lose him," she held my hand.

"We speak of this to no one. Do research at other houses. This place is too heavily monitored," I patted her hand, "G.U.N can not know."
