"Choo!" Sonic sneezed in his sleep. He had been coughing all night, no one but him got any sleep.
I placed a red box by his bed. A small valentine's gift from me. It wasn't much, but I knew he'd like it.
"How is he?" Rouge came in and I hid the box under Sonic's pillow.
"He's fine, just resting. Let go, ley him sleep," I left and cleaned up for him so he'd have nothing to worry about.
"You didn't get him anything did you," Rouge sighed.
"I don't celebrate."
"Funny considering you came up with the plan," she said opening the can of soup, "Something change your mind?"
"The products they're selling in every store. Too cheesy for my taste," I cracked an egg into the soup water.
"Yeah, thats why I stick to chocolates- shit! Sonic you scared me," Rouge jumped back like she had seen a ghost.
I turned around as Sonic was in the doorway. I didn't even hear him come down the steps.
"You hungry? We just started making you soup," I lead him to the couch and wrapped him in a blanket.
"I... I can make it my-" he started couching again. His voice was raspy, his thoat sounded soar.
"No you can't," I lit the fire and handed Sonic the remote, "Just relax, you don't need to worry about anything else."
"Think he'll panic of he finds out its Valentines Day?" Rouge whispered.
"Probrably. You better save that gift for tonight so he can't fight it," I served Sonic his soup and he ate.
We spent the whole day just getting him what he needed. I mixed a few medications into a cup of tea for him to drink he fell asleep within minutes of drinking it. He slept on Rouge's lap as we watched over him. All he did today was take small naps and drink soup. Around eight Sonic was awake again.
"Happy Valentines Day Sonic," Rouge handed him a box of chocolates.
"Its Valentines Day? Oh no, I didn't get you anything," Sonic got worried and upset as I predicted, "I'm so sorry, I would have gotten you both Something of I remembered-"
Rouge placed a heart shaped marshmallow in Sonic's mouth, "Calm down cutie. You can get us something after you get better, okay?"
"O-okay," Sonic was adorable, holding the edge of the marshmallow in his mouth.
Still being able to see the full marshmallow made it a perfect picture. Sonic went to bed around nine. We were alone downstairs again.
"It's funny how everyone thinks Valentines Day should be crazy eventful. It's pretty boring when your single," Rouge said, "or when your boyfriend's sick."
"Sonic isn't your boyfriend," I growled.
"Oh really, then where's you gift. If he wasn't sick, we would have gone out on a wonderful date. I would have worn my new lace nighty and been with him all night long. What was your plan?" She asked.
"I didn't have one," I answered.
"You weren't even going to make a move, then he's far from yours. Now then, I'm gonna take a bath and give myself a spa day. You go be boring on Valentines Day."
She left and I hand some piece and quiet. Just because she makes a move on him doesn't mean Sonic will accept.
PoV: Sonic
I got out of the bath and changed into some warm pyjamas. It was perfect timing seeing as Rouge decided to take a bath right after me. I pulled my covers back to lay down and I found a box under my pillow.
"What's this?" I picked it up and opened it, "Oh wow..."
It was small but beautiful. A necklace on a deliquet gold chain, and it held the moon. There was a note inside the box.
There are too many cliches I could buy you. Roses, chocolates, rings, or hearts. But you're too good for that, so I give you the moon. Hurry up and get better so we can go out sometime.
"No one's ever offered to give me the moon before," I put it on and looked in the mirror, a perfect fit, "I'll keep it close.
