August

"Come on August." Mercedes said trying to get me to get in the ocean.

"You know it's sharks out thea' right?"

"Yes now come on." I kissed my teeth as I took my shirt and off and went into the water with her.

"Now wha-" then she splashed some water in my eye. I covered pretending like it hurted.

"Ahh it was a sea shell in thea'." I faked, she came beside me.

"Im sorry let me see." She said trying to move my hand but I uncovered my eyes , smirking.

"Nah I'm playing." I said before tacklin her in the water, putting her under. She started beating on my chest so I let her up and she caught her breathe.

"Uhh! Are you tryna drown me!" She shrieked. I shrugged as she tackled me backwards .

After a while we were just doing random stuff In the water.

"Oh fuck no!" I yelled as I saw a snake swim by, I ran out that water so quick.

I got back to my spot panting as I put my shirt back on.

I saw Mercedes walk up behind me then she hit me.

"Just gonna leave me!" She said grinning shaking her head, she put her shorts back on before laying back on the ground .

"This is fun." She said.

"Yeah it's cool." I said shaking water out my hair .

"Wanna walk the beach?" She asked , plopping on her elbows.

"Sure c'mon." I said as I got up along with her. We started walking to the left of the hotel, down the ocean wave line.

"August..do you ever worry." She asked looking straight ahead.

"Of course." I answered.

"What about?" She looked up at me. I looked forward as I bit my lip, thinking .

"You, Drew, personal stuff, just a lot I guess." I said shrugging.

"Why you ask that?" I furrowed my eyebrows. She rubbed her hands together.

"I was just making sure I wasn't alone." She said with a slight laugh that faded.

"Nah, you're not."

"Have you ever...thought bout getting married?" She asked, I almost stopped dead in my tracks before I started laughing.

"Nah I ain't getting married." I said shaking my head, still laughing. I looked over to her and saw she had a serious face .

"O ok." She answered dryly before looking forward again. Ohh.

She didn't say nothing as she bit her lip and the wind blew her curls in her face. I sighed as I grabbed her hands pulling her to me, looking down at her.

"Mercedes.." I started as I leaned her chin up so I could look into her eyes," don't take it to heart." I said, she nodded.

"Ok." She said with a slight smile. I knew she was gonna take it to heart anyway .

"Do you ever...think bout lil man's future?" I asked trying to break the silence. She nodded.

"All the time." She answered with a smile," how bout you?" She asked. I nodded.

"Of course, I could see him playing basketball like I did." She rolled her eyes as she laughed.

"Oh really wow." She said.
