Because the twins just had to ruin the moment.

Ugh. Peace was something the vikings rarely had.

So, when it does come, they're taking full advantage of it.

Hiccup asked Astrid for a picnic on the beach and she agreed instantly and enthusiastically with bright eyes.

They flew on their dragons to the beach.

Hiccup layed the blanket on the beach, Astrid grabbing her satchel. Hiccup sat on it and patted the spot beside him. She gladly accepted.

Toothless and Stormfly rolled around in the golden sand, the frothing ocean waves rolling against the shore.

The air was cool, when the wind blew the forest trees rustled.

On a blanket, Hiccup and Astrid sat, watching the two dragons playfully wrestled each other.

Astrid could feel Hiccup beside her. The roughness of his yak leather, the warmth he radiated, yet they weren't touching.

Astrid shuffled closer, nuzzling the skin under his ear so lightly he could barely feel it.

Hiccup hooked his fingers around her waist and roughly pulled her to him so that their entire sides were pressing to each other. He rested his hand on the top of her skirt, playing with the hem of her tunic. Astrid giggled, loving how Hiccup was getting braver with their relationship by the day. She nuzzled him again, breathing in deeply, his smoky scent and the salty breeze of the ocean was...intoxicating.

"Finally." Hiccup murmured. "Some alone time." He looked beside him. Her eyes matched the sapphire sea and her hair was glowing as the sun reflected it.

"No distractions," Astrid agreed, leaning her head on his shoulder and Hiccup nuzzled her hair in response. "No interruptions. How did you manage to get the gang out of our hair?"

"I told them i'd cover stable cleaning shifts for the week if they don't come looking for us until we come back."

"We'll cover shifts." Astrid corrected, grabbing his hand and playing with his fingers unconsiously. Hiccup smiled at the sweet gesture. "All the more time to spend with you."

Hiccup lifted their intertwined fingers and kissed her fingertips softly.

"I'd like that."

"So, we can stay here as long as we like? Even tomorrow?" Astrid asked, looking at him. He nodded.

"Wow, that must've taken alot of persuasion." She mused, staring at Stormfly and Toothless who were trying to hit each other with their tail. Fishlegs taught them this game as a skill of defense and offense. Toothless flung his tail but Stormfly hopped and Toothless' tail went right under. Her tail lashed out but Toothless dived under her and ended up behind her. He flicked his tail and it touched the base of Stormfly's tail. Toothless made a laughing sounding coo and the Nadder squawked, annoyed.

"Anything for you." Hiccup whispered, and he let out an oof as Astrid tackled him. He fell onto the blanket with a laugh, his head conveniently landing on the pillow as Astrid wrapped his arms around his middle and layed on top of him, resting her chin on his chest.

Hiccup ran a hand up and down her back and the other never moved on her waist, grinning as Astrid's eyes fixated on Hiccup's face.

Astrid swore she could see little flakes of gold in the layers of green of his pupil. His eyebrows were thick and dark and Astrid liked it. She lifted her hands to his face and tilted his face so she could see his jawline, his sharp jaw line. She ran a finger down it and felt the smallest hint of stubble. She tilted her hand and ran along her finger again, and again. She liked the feeling. Yet, she liked everything about Hiccup.

Hiccup just laughed because she looked so cute. He leaned forward and smiled genuinely. He only smiled this kind of smile for Astrid. The corner of his lips tug up, the corner of his eyes crinkle the slightest bit, his eyes look at her lovingly, sparkling like the sea in the sun. Its so genuinely sweet and it touches something inside of her when he smiles at her like that, and looks at her the way looks at no one else she pressed forward and pressed their lips together, sighing softly, the feeling of his warmth and the softness of his lips never getting old.

"I love you." She murmured against his lips, and those three words on his lips set them tingling. He clutched her back tightly and rolled them over, so Astrid was on her back and Hiccup ontop of her on his hands, and feeling around to place the pillow under Astrid's head without breaking the kiss.

With the new position he tilted his head and pressed into her mouth, depending the kiss, running his hand up and down her side. Astrid let out a moan into his tongue and twisted her fingers in his hair.

Hiccup nudged her legs apart with his knee and she spread her legs so Hiccup could situate himself between them and descended himself on his elbows, lowering his head now hovering above her chest. She cupped his cheeks and pulled her closer.

All of this without breaking the their lips.

I guess you could say they had alot of practice.

After 15 minutes, [i mean, who's counting? The fans :))))))] he pulled away, breathing against each other's red lips.

"I love you too." Hiccup offered and snuggled into the crook of her neck. Astrid reached up and stroked the tuffs of hair lovingly, leaning into the top of his head, her cheek pressing to his forehead.

Moments like these...would Astrid do anything for. She'd clean the stables, patrol until 5 in the morning, she'd do anything for moments like these. But, life they had at the moment was fine. Stolen seconds, glances for across the room, smiles just for each other. It made her treasure these times so much more.

It seemed that Hiccup could read her mind. "After the war, we'll find peace." Hiccup said against her neck, slightly tickling it. "Everything will be over, we can finally have more time together."

"I can't wait." Astrid agreed, hugging his shoulders. She pressed a kiss to the side of his head.

"Well, what do you think of a moonlight flight?" Hiccup proposed as he pulled himself up and offered a hand to Astrid. She grinned. How can she deny?

Gliding through the sky in patterns, weaving through the silver clouds, the blooming horizon behind them.

Anywhere with Hiccup Haddock was peace, Astrid thought.
