Prompt: Snotlout takes flirting way too far. 

Set on S4 when the gang doesn't know about Hiccup and Astrid's relationship

Everyone was in the arena, grooming their dragons for the month, with a bucket of water and steel brush, polishing their scales. 

Snotlout was always annoying, in one way or another. But today, he wasn't just annoying. 

"Come on, Astrid! You know you want this." Snotlout puffed out his chest and stepped a little too close to the blonde.

"I want anything but this." Astrid gestured wildly at Snotlout beside her, taking a step back, looking disgusted. 

Hiccup bit back a growl and tried to stop scowling. Snotlout had been flirting with Astrid since everyone met up in the arena. Snotlout flirted with her, fueled with incredible self confidence and high ego, talking about how amazing he was and that Astrid wanted it. It was infuriating to Hiccup, as Astrid's boyfriend, at the sight of someone flirting continuously with Hiccup's girlfriend. 

But the both of them were quite adamant that their relationship should stay a secret, to avoid any changes in the dynamic or the gang, and they weren't too thrilled about the teasing that everyone could give. But Snotlout's flirting was getting braver and braver and Hiccup was getting angrier and angrier...

Astrid had already assured him that Snotlout's attempts at courting was only giving her more reasons to hate him. And it was incredibly obvious Astrid looked like she was about to puke. 

But surely, the teasing would be better than this...

All Hiccup could do was sit on the other side of the arena and force himself to brush Toothless and despite the urge to punch Snotlout.

Astrid ignored, moving on the brush Stormfly's tail, but it was hard, because Snotlout was practically sitting beside her, continuing to compliment himself and talk about how he and Astrid were totally compatible. Astrid scoffed in disagreement but that didn't deter Snotlout. Not like the punch or kick Astrid gave him earlier deterred him either. 

Astrid threw her head over her shoulder and gave Hiccup a pout, conveying, 'please help me'. Hiccup just shrugged and gave Astrid a small smile that would hopefully help her tolerate the torture. 

Astrid smiled back and tossed the brush at Snotlout's face and sauntered up to Hiccup and Toothless, stopping a step away but leaning forward, giving a scratch under Toothless' chin and groaned, "Hiccup, help me." 

Hiccup leaned forward too, wanting to hug her but he stopped himself, that would be too obvious. 

Then his eyes widened. Snotlout was coming up behind Astrid with his lips puckered, and Astrid was about to turn around...

Hiccup's reflexes kicked in, along with the natural protectiveness of a boyfriend, he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her to him, pressing her to his side and positioning himself infront of Snotlout and keeping her behind Hiccup. With sheer strength Hiccup opened his palm and pushed Snotlout back with undeniable strength, sending Snotlout stumbling a few feet before he fell onto the ground with a puff. 

"Strong." Astrid whispered under her breath so only Hiccup could hear, unconsciously wrapping her arms around his waist.

"You moron." Hiccup hissed at Snotlout, who was struggling to get up. "Trying to kiss Astrid? You disgusting piece of-"

"I'm okay, Hiccup." Astrid placed a hand on Hiccup's chest, which always calmed the one legged boy. It did, his clenched jaw unclenched but he was still infuriated.  

"He tried to kiss you Astrid! Without consent! Invading your personal space..." Hiccup told her incredulously, looking at her in disbelief. How could she be so calm? That muttonhead tried to kiss her, without any permission. The nerve...!

"But he didn't. You stop him in time." Astrid said softly and flashed him a grateful smile, with instantly melted away his tension and anger. 

Hiccup exhaled and let his lips upturn, and before he knew it, both of them were leaning in, and their eyes fluttered close and he could feel her breath against his own lips...

"OI!" Ruffnut yelled from across the arena, throwing her brush at them. Hiccup and Astrid jumped apart, eyes widening.

"What were you doing." She yelled shrilly, cocking up an eyebrow and fixing them with a serious expression, it looked stupid though because Ruffnut just wasn't born with that. 

"Uh..." Hiccup scratched the back of his neck, and Toothless cackled behind him. He knew all about their secret relationship, bastard. He was a dragon, but that didn't mean he couldn't tease them as well. 

"He was just making sure i was okay." Astrid said confidently, and Hiccup gave her kudos because the gang just shrugged and turned back to their dragons, and Snotlout scampered away to his dragon.

Astrid walked to Stormfly, passing Hiccup and when the gang's and dragon's backs were turned, she swiped her lips to his. That earned a lovesick grin from Hiccup.

"You did help me after all." Astrid said softly and flashed him an angelic smile.

Hiccup shot her a wink and was very satisfied with himself as Snotlout didn't shoot her another look for the rest of the week.
