set in No Dragon Left Behind pretend Hiccup was there when Astrid ran to get the poison

Astrid vaguely remembered the worried and terror-struck look on Hiccup's face as she emerged from the bushes, Slitherwing poison dripping on her fist as things turned black, falling into Hiccup's arms as she passed out, skin pale as ice and lips blue like her eyes hidden behind closed eyelids.

Then her eyes fluttered open to meet Hiccup's beautiful green ones, ones that were now filled with relief but signs of past worry.

"Easy now, Milady. The antidote is still making it's way through your body." Hiccup's voice quivered and shook with emotion, like he was about to cry...

"H-Hiccup?" She murmured, pushing herself up onto her elbows and blinking. She felt groggy, like there was a haze in my mind. Like she just woke up from a really good sleep.

"I'm right here." He brushed her sweaty bangs from her forehead and cupped her jaw, Astrid leaning into his touch. "Rest..."

Astrid felt like her limbs were as heavy as sacks of flour, a ball of chain attached to her, pulling her down. Her head thobbed mutely, her vision slightly burred, and there was some sort of distant ringing in her ears.

She rubbed her cheek to his hand affectionately, letting him know she appreciated him, regaining her strength slowly and letting her memories slip back as the antidote coursed through her...

"Stormfly!" She suddenly cried out, shooting up to her feet. She flailed her arms as she ran around the clearing, calling out her dragon's name. "Oh gods, wheres Stormfly? Is she okay?" Adrenaline pumped her veins and it was like she wasn't even poisoned in the first place...

"Astrid!" Hiccup's shrill voice rang. Everything was a blurred mass, Astrid was running around a mile a minute. Where was her dragon? She was poisoned and was on the verge of dying. Every second that passed was another inviting second Stormfly was closer to leaving forever...

Fishlegs twiddled his fingers nervously. "Astrid...the antidote worked for you...but it isn't working for Stormfly..." Fishlegs spoke up, meekly pointed to Stormfly, curled onto her tail and her head lopped on the grass, her eyes weighing between open and fluttering close...

Astrid let out a gasp, her heart dropping to Hel. She ran up to her beloved dragon, flinging herself across the Nadder's nose, whimpering her name...

His arms surrounded her, like a cocoon of warmth. "Hey..." He whispered, gently bringing her to his chest. Astrid pressed her face into his collarbone and scrunched her face up and squeezed her eyes shut. She felt her face start to heat up, oh gods, she was about to cry again...

Astrid took in a shaky breath and tears started to slip from her eyes. She gripped Hiccup's shoulders and felt Hiccup kiss her forehead. Thor help her, Astrid's best friend, dragon, rider, was about to leave her forever. Her girl was going to be gone. Astrid would never ride her again, never explore with her, hug her, there was never going to be another dragon like Stormfly, there was never going to be another friendship like Astrid and Stormfly. Heck, they've been dragon and rider for more than three years! Astrid wasn't ready to let go...

Astrid didn't care that she was crying in front of the gang - she was losing her dragon and she was 100% sure even Snotlout would cry if Hookfang was dying. Even the toughest had emotions, well hidden ones. And it took the right things to pull them out of layers of toughness and resistance.
