Chapter 5

While we waited, the girls wanted to change into their new tee shirts so we walked to the ladies room. Based on what Reni had told us earlier, we'd be lining up shortly for the signing part of the event. The meet part seemed to be more like a question and answer session which would be right after the signing. After that, we'd be taking our photos with the band.

Just as we walked out of the ladies room, we heard Reni ask for everyone to start lining up. It was time for the signing. Gathering the girls together I wanted us to all be on the same page.

"Okay Kenzie," I announced, "you take the lead. Paige, you follow Kenzie then Lily you're after Paige. I'll go last, got it?"

It was Kenzie's birthday so naturally she would go first and I knew I it would be best for me to have Lily as close to me as possible so I could watch her. She, of course, wasn't the least bit happy and wanted to make sure I knew it.

"No! I wanna go first!" Lily shouted throwing her hand against her sides.

This child is the best birth control on the planet. For the second time in the span of a few hours, I was once again bending to her level, trying to get her to behave. Since everyone standing within earshot was staring, I went to my knees in front of her, pulling her close to me.

In the sweetest voice I could possibly muster, I looked her straight in the eyes, "Lily, it's Kenzie's birthday, this is HER present that she is sharing with you..." She didn't respond so I continued only in a lower and not as sweet voice, "Knock. It. Off."

For the very first time, as she looked back at me, I saw fear and intimidation. It was priceless.

"Okay." Lily quietly said, falling in line with the others.

Obviously, it takes a lot to scare this kid. I've never had to do that before and I was seriously hoping the shock would make her behave from now on. I hated being the bad guy or at least feeling like the bad guy.

In the end, the battle over who was going first and who was last ended when about thirty people stepped in front of the girls as Lily threw her temper tantrum. I wasn't made and I can't even say I blame any of those people, I would have done the same thing.

"Nice going Lily." Kenzie fumed, "We're almost last because of you."

"This is why we listen to Auntie Vivie from now on, no arguments." I told Lily who genuinely seemed sorry.

All seemed to be forgotten when Jared, Shannon and Tomo entered the room to thunderous applause.

"Hellooooo!" Jared bellowed.

As he walked over to the table that was set up for them, he waved along with Shannon. Tomo was fist pumping as he past fans. It was nice to see them as happy and excited to see us as we were to see them.

While they got comfortable, Reni gave us further instructions.

"The signing is going to start in a few minutes. Please take your posters out and have them ready to be signed. Most importantly, keep the line moving!!"

Once we got closer to the table and could see the guys clearly, we saw Shannon was on one end, Tomo was next, sitting in the middle and Jared was on the other end.

"It's almost our turn!" Kenzie excitedly said as she turned to me.

Stepping up to the table, she slid her poster to Shannon and you could see her face light up as she said 'hello'. He was very sweet as he spoke to her and she was in her glory. I think I even saw her cheeks blush. As Kenzie moved on to Tomo, I saw Paige walk up to Shannon.
