Chapter 16

The girls were walking way ahead of Emma and I, clearly they knew exactly where they were going as we made our way to Jared's dressing room. You could hear the excitement in their voices as they giggled down the hall about the fun they were having and that made me so happy.

"I have a feeling they're going to be talking about you taking them on this girls trip for a long, long time." Emma joked.

"Ya know what? I'm excited I get to be the cool Aunt for once."

Although we chatted the whole time, Emma never mentioned what happened with those nasty girls so I didn't either. Not that I didn't want to though. I absolutely did. I wondered if confronting fan girls for outwardly rude behavior towards people who were close to him, like he did earlier, was something that happened often or if it was kind of unusual.

"I'm sure it won't be too long, Jared usually keeps the line moving pretty quick. You guys need anything?" Emma asked, stepping up to the dressing room door and unlocking it.

"No, I don't think so but thank you." I replied, not wanting to hold her up since I knew she had work to do.

I don't think the girls even heard Emma's question. As soon as she opened the door, they ran over to the couch and jumped on it, each finding their own comfortable spot. It seemed like they already felt like they owned the place and that had me shaking my head at their behavior.

"You have my number so just text me if you need anything."

All three gathered around Kenzie, who was going through all her pictures from Shannon's tour.

"We'll be fine. They'll be occupied for awhile." I laughed, I could hear the sounds of the drums in the video they were watching but it defiantly wasn't Lily playing at that moment.

"Auntie Vive, you gotta come see!" Lily called out to me, "I was playin' Shannon's drums in this part!"

"I'm being bellowed." I joked, pointing to Lily who was practically jumping up with excitement at her video with Shannon.

"I sat on his lap again..." Lily sang.

"That girl.." Emma giggled, shaking her head at Lily, "Okay, I'm going to go make sure everything is still running smoothly. Help yourself to anything in the fridge."

"Totally good. Thanks Emma."

With a wave, Emma left and I went to sit with the girls. One by one we went through all the pictures and videos from Shannon's backstage tour. It was pretty amazing to see that side of it and part of me wished I didn't miss it. Not that I would trade but you know what I mean.

Each picture had a story and by the time we were done, nearly a half hour went by. I tried to stay engaged but my mind kept wondering back to the memory of what happened with Jared in this very room not all that long ago. Leaning my head against the couch, I closed my eyes and just like watching a movie, I relived my amazing moment with him.

It was little less than an hour since we left Jared before we heard his unmistakable voice traveling down the hall.

Bursting through the door he asked, "You guys hungry because I'm starvin'."

The girls jumped up like the loud, crazy, little beasts they can be and shouted, "Yessss, yes!!"

Lifting my head from my dreaming, Jared smiled when our eyes met, "Did I wear you out?" he teased.

My face instantly turned blush red despite the only two people in the room knowing that little inside joke was Jared and I.

"Unbelievable." I said, shaking my head to which he only chuckled walking over to me as I stood up.
