Many Years Later, Present Time—Aldera Junior High
Aldera Junior High was a small little place that could have been almost significant in the eyes of the public, but it can't be forgotten that it was still a place of education. Izuku doesn't know how many times he had to tell his friend that just to get her to at least show a sliver of respect towards the school.
That is, if she even does.
Such school was also where a certain Izuku Midoriya and Katsumi Bakugo, two childhood friends, go to study.
There was also no doubt that the two were closer to one another than they were with others, something that doesn't go unsaid in most rumours surrounding the two; most usually whisper of how the two might be dating.
It's hard to say, really. They acted far too casual around one another to even be considered in a romantic relationship with each other, but there was no doubting the strong bond that held the two together. Like glue, then someone decided to add nails, more nails, and a stapler to be safe.
That's how tight their bond is, as strangely put as it is.
"Dating Katsumi? Oh no, I could never," chuckled Izuku anytime someone brought up the question to him, his smile carefree and genuine. "I could never hope to be good enough for her."
Such modesty is always retorted by the friend in question, who would go on to stammer, blush and blow up all the extras in one-go out of frustration and embarrassment. Izuku, being the oblivious fool he is, would be confused by this and just ignore it.
Things can't go any more nicer than it usually is, and Izuku usually wonders how things would have been if he was bullied by Katsumi. But he pushes those thoughts aside, more happy with spending time with Katsumi being his friend than anything else.
If anything, sometimes, there's those small little doubts that she's happy with him around, thinks that he's a burden to her. But she immediately tears these thoughts apart with her fierce assurance, to which the only thing he could do was believe her.
Because it felt more right to believe her than anything else in that moment.
And here they were; a young green-haired boy with a body to be respected for, freckled face and kind eyes that could reassure almost anyone. And his friend, a beautiful girl (surprisingly enough) whose spiky blond hair reaches just past her shoulders by an inch or two, with burning red eyes and the spirit of a Hero.
A weird pair, but good friends still.
Today, there had been a simple thought in his mind that he had the chance to entertain for just a minute.
See, U.A. High was one of those top schools with a platinum-ranked prestige. Anyone who goes here would have the chance to shine in the heroic world, and the only thing that scared him more than anything else was the possible attention.
Sure, it's bound to happen one way or another, but he hoped that at least most of the attention would shift towards everyone around him rather than on him. He didn't particularly like attention to begin with.
So of course, when he weighed the absolute pros of the school on his mind, he came to realise that it was absolutely amazing by how Katsumi had been able to get into the most prestigious Hero academy in Japan, and perhaps the entire world.
Students quickly learnt that she had aced the mock entrance exams and gotten everything else over as well, pridefully gloating on that to the 'extras'—he's always tried to get her to stop calling people that, but she just wouldn't listen. She aced just about everything, and somewhere along the way, students started to hear rumours of an equal contender.
