April—Midoriya Apartment

Soon enough, the time came for them to receive their letters, and true to each their hopes, they had been accepted into U.A High! The top Hero school!

It's easy to say that he didn't expect himself to actually be accepted, as a good part of him thought otherwise. Even so, with stubborn disagreement to such a belief from his friend, well, at least he got in, huh? And in the end, they were ranked the highest!

Granted, he was below her, possessing five points less, but that had ultimately secured him second place in the entrance tests, much to his and her shock. Like, second place! That is high!

Nonetheless, the childhood friends had come to tell their parents about what has happened, and that night was a party of celebration for both of them. And there was no way no one could remember just how much Eri had actually eaten that night.

She's got one hell of an appetite. Almost enough to rival Izuku's, in a way.

He partially blames himself after bringing her to the buffet the first time he met her.

Anyways, the day had come, and wearing the uniform of the school, he could only decide on whether he should try doing the little tie thing canon Izuku did, only to scoff at the thought (he found it absolutely weird) and decided to go for a normal length tie.

Unsurprisingly enough, Katsumi opted to forego it. Not like he blamed her for it, but oh well.

"Izu-nii!" He turned his head around, Katsumi—who had been waiting outside for him—following suit, their gazes turning towards the sight of a smiling Eri and a tearful Inko by the door. "Do your best!"

"B-But please be careful, Izuku dear!" Shouted his mother next.

Their words were very simple, were little. But the weight behind them made his chest warm. He felt a smile tugging at his face, his childhood friend having her own little grin beside him.

"Yeah!" He shouted back, and his spirit was riled.

Later—U.A. High

When Izuku was a child, his mother actually had a husband. Go figures.

The thing is, he doesn't remember his face because he had gone off to work overseas, hence why he doesn't even know how he looks. He never even heard his voice before, which, while it did initially hurt him, it strengthened his resolve to become stronger, both because he was the only male figure in the house, and because he was a Hero now.

Granted, he's training to become a Hero, but it was the thought that counts, right?

Then again, with knowledge of their situation, and that how his mother must have never received money from him, he had a feeling that this was a case of 'bergantung tidak bertali'. Basically, the husband leaves the wife at home, and never returns or never says a thing.

It's... bad for him to think so, but in his years of growing up, the man had shown neither hide nor hair, so there was a good chance that such was the case.

Pushing all those dark thought aside, he decided to keep his optimism high. Taking a train, Izuku and Katsumi had been able to reach U.A. High in the nick of time, with a few minutes to spare. The time was spent searching for their class, 1-A as they were told.

"Heh, I'm feeling pretty great! How about you?"

"A-Ah, yeah! I... am..."
