Waking up the next morning I pull the duvet over my head feeling my hangover hit as I squint at the winter sun beaming through the window. "I'm never drinking again" I say as I look at Jesse unsure of what to expect.

"You still look beautiful" I feel Jesse press his lips against mine and smile as I begin to kiss back "thank you for an incredible night Montana"

"Incredible huh?" I ask unable to stop the memories of last night replaying over and over again in my head.

"More than incredible. I could even say best birthday ever"

"That's good to know" I sigh hearing my phone ring not wanting this moment to end. Leaning over to pick my phone up as I let the call end I realise I have eight missed calls from my mum and five from Sam "I should probably phone my mum back she'll be panicking" pulling my clothes on I hold my phone between my shoulder and ear "hey mum sorry I didn't answer" I say as my mum picks up.

"Where the hell are you Montana! We're worried sick about you! No one heard from you after Chris's little performance" I listen quietly as my mum bombards me with questions.

"Mum I stayed with Jesse. I got upset and he let me into his room where I just fell asleep. I was exhausted and being that drunk didn't help"

"You could've text Montana! I know you're an adult but I hate seeing you upset!"

"I'm sorry mum! I'll meet you in the cafeteria for breakfast if you want? I can be there in five minutes" I ask trying to put an end to the rant.

"I'll see you there Montana but don't think this is over. We'll talk when I see you" I sigh as my mum hangs up on me knowing this is going to be an interesting morning.

"I need to go. My mum is literally going batshit crazy right now. I'm sorry" I explain to Jesse not wanting to leave his room.

"I understand. I'll see you soon though" Jesse says before placing another kiss on my lips. I could get used to this. Walking out of Jesse's room I look around making sure no one else is in the corridor before walking to the cafeteria where my mum and Sam are already waiting.

"Christ you look rough!" I roll my eyes at Sam's blatant observation "so did you have a good night?" Sam asks as she pours us both a coffee.

"I did until the obvious happened but I really think it was a success. Everyone seemed to have a good night and everything I planned went the way I saw it happening in my head plus I met so many people. I can't guarantee remembering their names but they all seemed lovely" I explain thinking of all of the players and families I met last night.

"None of this changes the fact you disappeared! I'm happy you had a good night but I want to know what went on Montana Grace!" My mum is fuming, the tone in her voice and the look in her eyes tells me she isn't happy however I feel like that anger is being directed at the wrong Smalling sibling.

"I told you I stayed with Jesse! When I walked out I was so upset I wanted to leave but he wouldn't let me just wander into the middle of nowhere so he made me stay in his room. That is literally it." I explain to my mum even if I shouldn't have to explain myself.

"He's a married man! You can't just be staying the night when you feel like it!"

"I slept in the bed and he stayed on the sofa! Fucking hell mother what do you think of me!" I argue back and forth with my mum knowing I'm not telling her the truth but no one can know about Jesse and I. "Mum I really think you're angry with the wrong person! Chris is the one who ruined my night! He knows my thoughts on singing in public. I haven't done it ever before so why would I start now? He done that to get a reaction out of me and he got it mum"
