*Luca POV*
"You've changed,"
The man I once knew as Nakoa says after he finished the final bolt of the door. His gaze shifting to the large family photo hanging on the wall next to the large rustic metal 'J' for our last name. I put the hammer down after I finished blocking the window making it look like our house was abandoned.
"So have you,"
I mention and Taehyung stands up, walking over to get a closer look at the family.
"I always sensed you had this soft uncovered side to you. You seem so happy that I feel like you are a different person altogether," he says and I joined him, standing beside him as we looked at the happy photo together.
"If you had told me ten years ago that I would have this beautiful family; two wonderful husbands, five beautiful children, and a farm to spend my days on, I would have told you that you were insane," I said and Taehyung nodded with his arms now crossed as he stared at the picture like it had a hidden message inside.
"But you're something else, my friend. I had imagined you would be the one who got out and I would be the one still in the game. Not the other way around," I told him with an unavoidable hint of sadness in my eyes.
"I'm so proud of him," He whispers softly as he traces Matthias' face with his index finger. He sighs and pulls his hand back, slowly retreating it to his pocket as he now looks uncomfortable. His cold, stoic face breaking to a true genuine emotion since the first time he came here.
"I have a daughter," He says and I put my hands in my own pockets.
"I know, I met her when we went to celebrate Christmas at your parent's house. She's a very gifted little girl and now I see where she gets it from," I tell him honestly and turn to him. His gaze never shifting from the family portrait.
"I'm sure she is, that is how I've imagined her to be," He says, his voice softer and so quiet that I almost missed his words.
"I have pictures of her if you'd like to-"
"No, I can't," The emotion leaves his face again as drifts back and it's almost as if I could see the real taehyung shifting to the backseat and allowing his persona to take control again. I knew what that felt like. What it is to not feed your emotions for fear you'll lose the persona.
"Papa?" Distracted by the sweet little voice, I looked down to find Nakoa was patting my knee to get my attention.
"Hmm? What are you doing down here little guy?" I asked my son as I bent down to pick him up and hold him on my side.
"Papa, I had to tell you that..." Nakoa takes a deep gulp of air to catch his breath and Taehyung and I are anxiously awaiting his response.
"Jada, Nova, Gigi, Roo and Koa are..." He takes another deep breath and with his pointer finger in the air to let us know it was something of the utmost importance..
"Are hungry," he finally finishes his sentence and I burst out laughing, ruffling his soft curls and his smile warms my heart as he sucks on his thumb.
"Why didn't you tell mommy or daddy that you're hungry?" I asked him and he shook his head.
"No, I want papa's food!" he cried out and I kissed his squishy tan cheek.
"Okay, okay sweetheart. I'll make you guys something, but first..." I turned to Taehyung's face as he softened when he met one of his nephews for the first time.
"Nakoa, this is your uncle. How do we greet someone when we first meet them?" I asked and he held his hand out to shake Taehyung's. His uncle takes the little one's hand into his and gives it a firm shake before letting go.
"Nice to meet you Nakoa," He says with a smile and my shy little munchkin hides in the crook of my shoulder from the stranger.
"Alright, let's get you something to fill your belly," I tickle his little tummy and he breaks out into a ton of baby giggles to lighten the situation that was about to unfold.
