The story of how Carson and Bucky got together in 418 :)

***

February 14th

Valentines Day. The day couples spend time with each other to show their love for each other more elaborately than normal before going back to the way it was.

From his sketchbook, Carson Ambrose saw this sort of scene unfolding in the Avengers Tower. Most of his friends were in relationships and spending the day together.

Earlier that morning, Bruce gave Nat a bunch of flowers and they made plans to go out to lunch. Something small and discrete. Neither of them were into the whole "Day of Love" thing, but they tried to make an effort.

Although they weren't really dating, Peter and Maya split a Hershey's bar and had a contest of who could come up with the cheesiest, stupidest Valentines day card for the other. Peter just ran by with a bunch of glitter packets in his arms, leaving Carson slightly worried for Maya's sake.

Tony and Pepper spent the day having a shopping day followed by a nice dinner at a fancy place that was practically impossible to pronounce. It sounded Italian, that's for sure. And expensive, but what else would you expect from Tony Stark?

Carson wasn't sure about the customs on Asgard for Valentines day, though it was kind of sweet to hear that Olivia and Loki were going to have a picnic in Central Park before meeting up with Thor and Jane for stargazing later that night.

Wanda and Pietro spent the day as any siblings would on Valentine's day: See how many people would think they're in a relationship with each other before saying that "You must read or watch too much Game of Thrones; Incest between twin siblings, or any siblings for that matter, is frowned upon in this society" and see how the askers freak out or look embarrassed.

Clint usually spent the day with his family on his farm and then ordered pizza for them as well as buying his kids chocolate.

Steve didn't really have anyone to celebrate with, so he went to the museum to look at the exhibit where he could look at pictures and old videos of Peggy (No, Steve is not spending the day with Peggy's niece, whatever her name was. While she was an interesting character, I do not condone that ship bc it's wrong in almost every way I look at it. XD).

Carson sighed and closed the sketchbook. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that he wished that he could spend the day with someone rather than sitting alone and eating chocolate while watching movies. He could do that any old day and even then, someone usually was laughing and watching movies with him.

Although he would never admit it to anyone except for himself, he wished that he could share what some of the others had with Bucky. They had grown close in the time that they had lived with the Avengers together, having similar interests and sense of humor as well as both being captives and experiments of HYDRA.

Carson eventually dozed off for a little while, not wanting to do anything but sleep. When he woke up again, it was about 4 PM and the tower was still close to empty. He went to pick up his sketchpad to return to his room and watch a little TV, but then he saw something small and pink slide off the cover as he picked up the book. Carson picked up the small pink thing to see it was a candy heart. The lettering had rubbed off, so only a few small red lines were visible, not enough to make out what the candy was supposed to say. Probably something stupidly cheesy, Carson thought to himself. Then he noticed another heart on the floor by his foot, a green one this time. Next to it, a yellow heart pointed the way to a small path of hearts of various pastel colors.

Picking up the hearts as he went, Carson followed the trail to the upper patio of the Avengers Tower. His pockets full of candy, he cautiously opened the sliding glass door and walked to the point where the trail ended. The late afternoon February air was slightly cold, leaving Carson to try to warm his arms.

"You cold?" a voice asked behind him. Carson turned around and saw Bucky with a smile on his face.

"Did you leave the candy trail?" Carson immediately asked. Bucky grinned and nodded, something that seemed a bit weird to Carson as Bucky never grinned that much. "What for?"

"I noticed you looked sad and wanted to find a cheesy way to ask you if you wanted to be my... boyfriend?" Bucky asked hesitantly.

"Seriously? But I did not think you were-" Carson stared.

"You don't know what Steve and I would get up to in the 40s." Bucky said slyly.

"I knew it..." Carson mumbled. Bucky suddenly captured him into a hug and pecked him on the lips for only a second. Carson smiled and pulled a candy heart from his pocket.

"I have got plenty." he said.

*Hours later*

It was about 10 o'clock at night when Thor, Jane, Loki, and Olivia came back to the tower after their stargazing night, the living room lit up by a single light that shined on Bucky and Carson's sleeping forms, cuddled in each other's embrace.

"I knew it was only a matter of time. Clint owes me 10." Olivia whispered.

"I didn't think you were the kind to bet." Jane observed.

"It's not that hard to pick your battles that you know you'll win." Olivia replied. "I've shipped it from the beginning."

The group made their way to their rooms, Olivia quietly shutting off the light on her way up.
