     'san diego. flight 7062. arrived.'

"Holy shit." Ashton swallows as he reads the flight board. He is so, so far from ready.

At 6'2, Ashton should be well past y'all enough to see Calum coming, but he still stands on the tips of his toes to try to spot him, and he almost makes his lip bleed from biting it so hard from nerves.

When he finally sees Calum though, he lets out a sigh of relief.

"Motherfu-" He starts to blurt out, when Calum quite literally throws himself into Ashton, dropping his backpack on the ground and nearly knocking Ashton to the ground.

Ashton fumbles back a bit before throwing his arms around Calum and burying his head in the smaller boys neck. "Oh my fucking god you smell so good I'm crying on you I'm sorry you're so tall-" Calum rambles on until Ashton stops him.

"I literally cannot breathe you're holding me so tight, baby." Ashton whispers breathlessly.

"Sorry-" Calum starts to let go.

"I didn't say stop." Ashton smiles, hugging Calum tighter and pulling him closer. "I didn't need air anyway."

The two boys hug for what seems like forever, but in reality it's only a couple of minutes before neither of them can breathe they're hugging each other so tightly, and they pull away from each other.

Ashton gasps once again, eyeing Calum up and down. "Dude, you're so short."

"You're not." Calum stares wide eyed at Ashton. "Remember when I first texted you and called you a fucking daddy?"

Ashton shuts his eyes as he sighs. "Dear god." He pauses for a moment as he watches Calum laugh. "Let's get you out of here before you say something that gets you shipped back there in a body bag." Ashton scoffs, picking Calum's backpack up off the ground.

     "I can carry th-"

"Nope." Ashton replies. He intertwines his fingers with Calum's as they begin walking. "That okay?"

     "Shit, yes. Holy fuck."

——

"Dude." Ashton laughs, standing by the car as he watches Calum walk to the wrong side.

     "What?" Calum raises his eyebrows.

     Ashton gestures to the car.

"Oh fuck we're in the colonies!" Calum yells, groaning as he walks all the way around to the correct side of the car.

Ashton chuckles, shaking his head as he gets in the car. "Where to first?"

"I thought you had a plan." Calum's eyes widen. "If not, we're so much more than fucked."

"I do, I just wanted to see what you've looked like this whole time when I try to give you responsibilities." Ashton laughs as he starts the car.

"I don't know how to say a keyboard smash in real life so just pretend I did in reaction to that. A long one with a bunch of s's and h's and g's." Calum replies.

"Do you even know how to talk like a human being anymore?" Ashton looks over.

"Bold of you to assume I ever did." Calum mumbles, laughing to himself.

Ashton pauses, then sighs, then decides not to acknowledge that sentence. "Are you hungry? Have you had breakfast?"

"No. I mean- yes I'm hungry, no I haven't had breakfast." Calum states.
