chapter fifteen

Our reception was upstairs and the guests were slowly moving up there. Our wedding party was all in the locker room, taking a shot of tequila. 

Patrick kissed me and Tazer said, "Save it for tonight!" 

We all headed up to the banquet room for the grand entrance. 

The food was actually amazing and we ate and went around to all the tables. We got to table number four and Q was there.

We took a cute picture with him and we moved through all the tables. 

It was time for the maid of honor speech..

Allison got up there and said, "For those of you who don't know me, I am Allison Miller, Ashley's older sister. I want to thank everyone for coming to night to celebrate such a beautiful couple. Most little girls wanted to play barbies and dress up. Ashley wanted to shoot pucks or stickhandle, 24/7. I always dreamed of my wedding growing up, Ashley dreamed about being in the NHL. Her dream came true, it's almost too god to be true. My little sister made it to the NHL and won the Stanley Cup. There was one night in January where I was with Ashley and she got into my car and I could tell she was in love. She talked about this man that she loved and told me about how perfect he was. There was only one problem, she didn't think that he could ever love her... For once in her life, Ashley was wrong. Patrick loves Ashley more than she could have ever imagined. He treats her like a princess and I am so honored to get to stand up here today and get to watch you live happily ever after."

Tazer stood up and said, "Hi, I'm Jonathan Toews and I play for the Chicago Blackhawks with Patrick and Ashley. I used to be Patrick's best friend, but Ashley stole him from me. Thanks Ash.." He said smiling and joking

Everyone laughed and Tazer continued with, "But for real, Patrick is my best friend and I am honored to be up here today as his best man. Ashley, I still can't believe you chose him. He's messy, doesn't do his own laundry, and procrastinates everything. I, on the other hand am charming, good looking, I clean, I'm the captain, and I have a gold medal." Tazer said

I was laughing and so was Patrick. The team was also laughing along with everyone else who was there...

Tazer laughed and said, "Being serious, Patrick couldn't have picked a better girl to love. I have never seen him so happy. After they started dating, Patrick actually cleaned and did his laundry because he didn't want to give Ashley a reason not to like him. Little did she know that she is stuck doing all the laundry and cleaning. Patrick is probably the best guy that I know and Ashley is beyond lucky to call him her husband. Patty K, I have no idea how you did it, but you got married before me and I couldn't be happier. I love you both and well, the boys and I have a little surprise for you.." Tazer said

They all came out and they made up different words to a bunch of different songs. They started it off with a song called "UCLA" and they changed the words to, "They just went to LA for the all star game and they hooked up..." 

They were all singing and they told our  love story. I was laughing so hard, I started crying. 

My dad and I danced and then Patrick danced with his mom. We had our first dance together as a married couple.

"You look so beautiful!" He whispered in my ear

"Thank you, you look pretty handsome yourself." I whispered back

We talked and I loved being in his arms. People were having fun and I was dancing with my sisters and then with the team and it was a crazy long night. We were staying in a fancy hotel tonight.

I woke up in Patrick's arms and I smiled and he said, "Good morning my beautiful wife."

"Good morning sexy husband." I said kissing him

We both got up and got dressed. I wore his sweatshirt and leggings. We put our bags into Patrick's car and he took me out for breakfast and then to the UC for morning skate.

We walked in the locker room and the whole team was cheering. 

There hung my new game jersey from the team... It had number 88 on the back and said  KANER'S WIFE..

"Awww!" I said seeing the jersey

Patrick kissed me and our morning skate went great. We went home to our house and did our pre-game routines. We were back at the UC later that night winning our game against Dallas.

I put on my KANER'S WIFE jersey (This is just a joke and I would never wear it for a game). We took a picture and I posted it.

We decided to save the honeymoon for this summer because we both didn't want to miss two weeks of hockey, typical. 

Life being married was amazing. I feel like it made us so much closer as a couple.
