chapter forty-two

Ashley's POV:

We had spent two weeks in Minnesota and it was amazing. My parents were so happy for Allison, but obviously pissed at Anthony. We were in the car to head back home to Chicago for about a month before heading to Buffalo.

Today, I was going to have a girls day with my sister and we were going to talk about everything.

We went out to lunch and she gave me all the details about Anthony. It was for the best that everything with them was over for good. She was so in love with Jonathan.

She didn't tell me because she was scared Tazer would find out and she was scared how everyone would think she failed.

"How did everything start?"

"Honestly, It was about a month ago.. I came over here to talk to you and Tazer was here watching Lauren. We just talked and by that time Anthony and I were over. Three days later, mom was in town, I went over to his place, we hooked up, and now I'm getting fat with you.."

I laughed and I said, "I'm happy that you're happy... You now I'm here for the good, bad, and especially the ugly."

"I know and I'm sorry that I didn't tell you anything."

We spent the rest of the day baby shopping.

"Jonathan gave me a debit card linked to his account... He said to use it to buy all the baby stuff.. I just can't do that.."

"Tell him that, but if you paid a million dollars for something, it wouldn't make a dent in his bank account.." I said

"I still can't believe that I'm dating and NHL player.."

"Neither can I.." I said laughing

"You're married to one." She replied laughing with me

"It doesn't seem real... But hey, you should convince Tazer to build you a house across the street from us and we can hang when our boys are gone."

"Ash, this just started... I'm not asking him to buy me a house..."

"You're having his baby, your house isn't big enough, plus it has Anthony germs in it.."

Allison laughed and said, "That's true.."

"Have you heard from him?" I asked

"Nope... He's somewhere in California with a surfer chick.."

"He's an ass.."

"He is, but I'm happy he gave me Audrey and Lilly.."

"And now baby Toews is on the way.." I said smiling

She smiled and said, "I know.. I get to be pregnant with my little sister and all he Kane sisters.."

"We need a picture of all of us showing.."

"Sometime in August.." Allison said

I dropped her off at night and Jonathan was arching the girls.

"Go get your man you hot mama!" I yelled as she got out of my car

She gave me the middle finger and walked inside. I loved my big sister so much.

We spent some time in Chicago and then we headed out to Buffalo to visit the Kane's.

Allison was only a month an a half, so we were getting a picture in August when she was showing and Jackie would be showing too.

We were in the Buffalo house and Lauren loved the pool in the backyard.

I was sitting by the pool and Patrick was in the pool.

He came over and he said, "You look hot pregnant.."

"I feel gross.." I said

He kissed me and said, "You'll be beautiful no matter what.."

"Mama!" Lauren said reaching her arms out to me

Patrick lifted her out of the pool and to me.

"Want to go take a bath?"

"Yeah!" She said

I went inside and gave her a bath and Patrick came in and showered. The next day, Donna came over as she was watching Lauren while Patrick took me on a weekend getaway to Toronto.

The drive was short and we went to our hotel. He drove to the hockey hall of fame and he brought me inside. We spent hours inside there and he said, "Here is where my favorite hockey player in the word..."

We turned the corner and there was my hockey jersey, with pictures of me, a stick of mine, and I started crying.

"I made it.."

"You made it into the hockey hall of fame..."

"Allison Hastings - the first female in the NHL" I read

It had my stats, career highlights, etc.

I started to cry when I read the last sentence that read, "Hastings career ended in the most beautiful was possible. She fell in love with Patrick Kane and they have a beautiful daughter (Lauren) and they are expecting a son. Ashley Hastings-Kane is a hockey legend and the NHL could not be more proud of everything she accomplished.."

I hugged Patrick and said, "Wow... I love you.."

He kissed me and said, "I'm so proud of you.."

"I love how they added Kane to my name at the end.." I said

Patrick and I were making out in the hockey hall of fame. We took pictures and we left and went back to our hotel.

We were laying in bed at 2am and I started crying.

"What's wrong?" Patrick asked

"I'm your favorite hockey player?" I asked

"Hell yeah! My favorite hockey player, wife, and mother to my kids all in one.."

I was crying... He was so sweet..

"But expect some competition the second we get our kids playing hockey.."

I laughed and said, "I can't wait.."

Patrick kissed me and I said, "Thank you for bringing me here.."
