chapter forty-three

Ashley's POV:

Today was the day that we were making the trip to Buffalo for three weeks. Patrick was driving and we were about halfway there and I was sitting beside him and I started to cry.

"What wrong?" Patrick asked 

"I can't get comfortable.." I said 

He grabbed my hand and kissed it and said, "We're halfway there.."

"You mean with the drive or the pregnancy?"

"Both.." He said to me 

About twenty minutes later, I made Patrick stop again.

"You've peed about ten times in four hours."

"Do you have a tiny human inside of you pushing on your bladder and kicking you in the ribs?"

"I love you.." He said kissing me

I sat in the backseat next to Lauren to help keep her entertained for the next hour. 

We were about an hour away and I was driving. We arrived and I pulled up to the gate and I looked at Patrick and said, "You've never told me the code.."

He laughed and said, "And I never will.."

"Why? Have to do with one of your ex-girlfriends?"

"Yeah, she's a real bitch!" He said

"Who is she?" I asked 

"10-6-88-3-18"

I looked at him said, "Hey!"

We started dating on October 6th...

88 was his hockey number, 3 was for his sisters, and the 18 was the day Liam was born.

I sat there and Patrick asked, "Why aren't you getting out?"

"Because I don't want to die if someone is hiding in the house.."

Patrick laughed and I said, "I'm protecting our kids.."

He got out and unlocked the house, screamed, and acted like he was getting pulled in by someone. It made me jump and he walked out laughing a second later. He came out ten minutes later and said, "It's safe!"

I brought our daughter to our Jeep and I headed to the grocery store while Patrick unpacked the car. 

I was buying lots of fruits and veggies and I suddenly start to feel a sharp pain in my stomach. I keep shopping and an hour later we were back home. We were at the Kane's and those feelings weren't going away..

"Patrick!" I called from the kitchen

He came down with Donna by his side and I was crying and in pain.

"Are you in labor?" Donna asked

"I can't be, it's too soon.."

"You might be, Patrick take her to the hospital.." Donna said

"Will you come with us?" I asked

We all got in the car and Patrick drove to the hospital and the nurses and doctors saw me right away. They did tests and ultrasounds and said that the baby was okay and so was I.

I was not in labor. I had a kidney infection which might have been caused by my sitting for so long in the car.

We were back at home a few hours later and we went to bed.

"I was so scared that we were going to lose our son.." I said crying 

Patrick pulled me close to him and said, "So was I... But you're okay and our son is okay.. We're all okay.. I love you both so much.." He said kissing my belly and then my lips

I loved being in Buffalo and I asked Patrick, "When you're done in the NHL, where is home going to be?"

"Wherever you and our kids are.." He said 

We laid there and I asked, "What should we name out son?"

"Honestly, I feel horrible breaking the Patrick Timothy Kane thing, but I also hate the idea of having our son named after me. I don't want him to feel like he has to live up to the name... Do you know what I mean? I don't want him hurting himself physically and mentally by trying to beat me... "

"Just like Nathan Scott from One Tree Hill.."

"What?" Patrick asked

I pulled out my laptop and found One Tree Hill on Hulu. 

"We are so watching this! But I do understand what you mean. You don't want to be a Dan Scott.. If you want to continue it, I have no problem supporting that.. If not, I would still like his middle name to he Patrick or Timothy.."

We watched the first episode of One Tree Hill and Patrick said, "Nathan remind me of a younger version of myself.."

We had a Naley relationship... This was actually kinda fitting for us. We watched five episodes and it was four in the morning.

We went to bed and we were both exhausted the next day, so we hung out at home and watched more episodes. 

"So, I am basically your Nathan.." He said

"Yes, you are.." I said holding our daughter and I said "I am your Haley and Lauren is you Jamie.."

Patrick kissed me and said, "I can't believe you sucked me into this show.."

The next two weeks flew by and Tazer was in town with my sister and her kids. We were all outside the Kane's house.

We all had white dressed on and were doing a baby bump photoshoot. Our husbands/boyfriends were added into the shoot too and our older kids eventually.

"All my girls are having babies.." Donna said jumping in the pictures

We were doing a huge group baby shower tomorrow too. My family was there too and we got so many pictures.

We got one of me and Allison with our backs to each other, holding hands. In front of us were our guys. Patrick was kissing me and he had one hand on my stomach, Tazer was doing the same thing to Allison. Above us, they were fist bumping.

It was adorable.. Like so adorable..

"Als... Can you please tell the world about baby Tazer so I can post the adorable photo?"

"I think it's time.." Jonathan said

"We'll post after the gender reveal tomorrow.."

The next day we were in the same white dresses and it was time for the gender reveal. 

Me, obviously a boy.

Erica already had her party as she was due in like a week, she was having a boy.

After the suspense we learned that Jessica and Jackie were having girls.

Allison and Tazer were having a boy. Tazer got teary..

"Is the captain crying?" Patrick asked

"I'm a dad now, I'm allowed to cry.."

"Our sons will be best friends and be in the NHL together.." I said crying to Allison

This was such a happy moment. 

Allison and Tazer took a cute gender reveal picture and both posted it and the fans were going insane. 

I posted that picture I loved so much. People loved my sister with Tazer. I loved her with Tazer and Patrick loved them together too..

I was refilling Patrick's drink and Tazer said, "I hope that isn't for you.."

I laughed and said, "Looking out for your nephew... No, it's Patrick's.. So how is life with my sister?"

"It's really good.. I've been basically living with her, but I recently just bought a huge house for us..."

"That's exciting, where?" I asked

"Close to yours... I just told her this morning and she thinks it's too much for me to do.."

"She'll accept it when she sees it.." I said to tazer
