chapter twenty-six

I was watching all three kids alone for the weekend.. Anthony and Allison were going to Minnesota.

The doorbell rang three hours after they left. Patrick was there.

"Hey.." He said looking up and seeing me and he looked confused

"Hi.." I said also looking confused

"I'm here to watch Audrey and Lily for the weekend.." He said

"I'm doing that.." I said

Allison.. That bitch!

"Do you want me to stay? Or are you okay?"

"I'm fine, but you can stay if you want.." I said walking away

He came in and he actually helped a lot..

I slept in my room with Lauren and Patrick slept in the guest room.

We were up almost all night with the two babies..

The next day Patrick took Audrey to the park and I fed the babies.. They were down for their nap and Audrey crashed too.

Patrick went to practice and I napped until the kids woke up. I made dinner, gave Audrey a bath and put Lily and Lauren to bed. Audrey and I were in room and I read her a story and Patrick sat there and listened..

I went and found my sisters stash of wine and poured two glasses.

Patrick and I drank the whole bottle of wine and he said, "This is the life that I wanted with you.."

My sweet Patrick....

"This is the life that I wanted too, but we don't always get what we want.."

Patrick put his wine glass down and he also put mine down. He pulled me onto his lap so I was facing him..

"What are you doing?" I asked

He pulled me closer to him and said, "Something that I hope you don't me or slap me for.."

He kissed me and wow...

I didn't pull away.. I should have, but we were both wine drunk..

I didn't stop him and I don't think I wanted to...

We were both with other people and had kids... But somehow this felt right..

I took off Patrick's shirt and he took off mine. He carried me to his guest bedroom and we had sex. 

A few hours later, we were woken up to a crying baby.. It was Lauren..

I threw on Patrick's shirt and went to her in her crib.

I picked her up and was able just to rock her back to sleep. I didn't know if I should go back to Patrick's room or stay here? My head was pounding..

Patrick came in and he looked at me holding Lauren.

He wrapped his arms around me and whispered, "She looks just like you.."

He kissed my neck and said, "Come back to bed.."

He left and I kissed Lauren and I went back to Patrick's room. He pulled me close to him and I fell asleep.

Patrick was up early for morning skate and leaving for St. Louis for the semi-final. 

He said goodbye to Audrey, Lily, and even Lauren..

"God, she is a mini you.." He said to me

I smiled and he looked at me..

"Thanks for letting me stay.."

"Thanks for staying.. Good luck in St. Louis.." I said

With that he left.. I took care of the kids while Anthony and Allison flew back home.

Once they were home Allison asked how it went.

"Well, thanks for the heads up about Patrick.." I said giving her a look

She laughed and said, "How'd everything go with him? Did you tell him?"

"It went fine and no!!" I fired back

"So you guys hooked up?"

"We were both wine drunk.. It meant nothing.. No one can know about it." I said walking away

That night, I found myself watching the game on my laptop.. Patrick was playing amazing..

They swept the Blues and they wont in six games against Colorado.. They were playing Nashville now in the semi-final.

Allison walked in and said, "I have a surprise for you!"

"What?" I asked

"I'm not going to tell you, but you need to shower and get dressed. Wear leggings and a long sleeve shirt... I will get the kids ready.."

I showered and got ready. Allison got the kids in the car and blindfolded me as she drove to our destination. Anthony sat in the back with all the kids. Allison had a Yukon XL.
