chapter thirty-nine

Lauren's POV:

(obviously Lauren doesn't know all this being under two years old, but just imagine that she does)

We were at the place where we watch my daddy play hockey. I love my daddy so much. My mommy loves him too.

They keep telling me that I am going to be a big sister and have a little baby brother or sister to play with. I didn't really know what that meant, but there is a baby in mommy's tummy.

Mommy says that I used to be in her belly too!

When dad hit the target, mom was crying. Daddy gave her a hug and he picked me up... He said I'm going to be a big sister and that I'm going to have a little brother.

Ashley's POV:

"I can't wait to meet our son.." Patrick said kissing me

"I want him to be just like you.."

We all went back up to our suite and everyone was excited.

They won the game, meaning that they were going to advance again in the playoffs to play Nashville.

Someone from our large family drove my car home with Lauren in it and I waited outside the locker room just like I used to for Patrick.

He came out and wasn't expecting to see me there..

"Hey sexy" I said

He looked at me and smiled and said, "I love you.."

"I love you too!"

We went to his car and he drove us to visit Liam. We stayed there for about an hour talking, crying, and laughing. We told him we will always love him no matter how many kids we have.

We got back in the car and Patrick and I were making out. 

He eventually drove home after we had sex in the backseat of his car. We got home and went to bed as everyone else was asleep. Tomorrow was an off day and we spent it all together.

We took lots of pictures of the growing baby bumps and just had fun.

Suddenly, the door opened and there stood Carly.

"Hi, where is Patrick?" She asked

"Why are you here?"

She looked at my stomach and said, "Cute..He knocks you up to make you forget about me.."

"You need to leave us alone.." I said

"But we have the DNA results back and it looks like I'm stuck in your life.."

She handed me a piece of paper and the results said that the baby was 84% matched to be Patrick's son... Fuck..

Patrick came to the door and I shoved the piece of paper on his chest and said, "Congratulations daddy!"

I grabbed Lauren from my sister and I put her in my car and I drove.

I went to the beach and I parked my car, got the stroller out, put Lauren in it and we walked on the trails by the water. I need time and space.

"Mama.." Lauren said

"What baby?"

"Is baby okay?'

"Yes, your baby brother is very healthy and strong. He can't wait to meet you.."

Patrick had been trying to call me and I kept ignoring him. Well, I'm dumb and I have my location shared with him and he showed up.

"Ash.." He said

"We can't do this here..." I said walking away

"When can we do it?" He asked

"When we're alone, when you aren't in the playoffs, when we know more, when our family is gone, when you know what you want.. Until then, no..."

Patrick left and I finished my walk.

I returned home and everyone wanted to know what was wrong.

I just stayed quiet and went to my room.

Our families left and so did Patrick to go to Nashville.

He was leaving and I drove to the United Center and caught him just in time. 

"Hey, I love you no matter what Patrick. I just need some time to process the fact that you have a son with another woman. Go kick Nashville's ass..." I said kissing him

"I love you Ashley and I'm so sorry.."

He got on the bus and I drove home. 

The Blackhawks lost both games and they came home and lost them both.. The season was over. 

A few days later, Allison was watching Lauren today and we were sitting down with Carly. 

She brought her son and said, "This is James Timothy Miller.."

"So if you knew he was my son, why doesn't he have my last name?" Patrick questioned

"I don't want people to know he's yours.."

"But you wanted us to know?" I asked

"Of course, I can't afford to support him.." She said 

"I'm sorry Carly, but I'n not going to give you money.."

"I'm asking for 3 million.. I'll disappear and you'll never hear from me again."

"That is way too much.." I said

"It's really not considering he will never get to see his father.." She said back

"I'm willing to be in his life.." Patrick said

"I think you need to leave and you'll be hearing from our lawyer.." I said standing up

Carly held her son and said, "You're not going to win this battle.. Maybe by the end of it, Patrick will love me and our son... The only son you gave him is dead and the one in your stomach will never know him, because Patrick will love me, not you bitch.." She said

"Get the fuck out of my house and stay the hell away from us." Patrick said kicking her out

I was crying and he tried to hug me, but I pushed him away..

I locked myself in our bedroom and I grabbed my laptop. Patrick went to pick Lauren up.

He got home and I said, "Patrick, are you close with your cousin Parker?"

"Not really.." He said

"Look at this.." I said 

He laid next to me and I showed him a picture of Parker's twitter. It was the same time that Patrick was in Tampa. Parker was with Carly at a party.

"James isn't your son... He's Parkers.." I said

"Holy shit..." Patrick said 

"Did you sleep with her?"

"I did, but it was late.. Probably after she screwed my cousin.."

"She knew Parker had no money to giver her.. She framed you since day one.. That's why the DNA test didn't come back 100%.."

"How positive are you?"

"Almost one hundred percent.." I said

He kissed me and said, "I'm sorry and I love you.."
