Chapter Eight
Officer Miles stared blankly inside his car. A hand on the stirring wheel the other on the door. Should he do it or should he not? Raven was innocent and it could be easily proven, but the evidence would fit perfectly and he needed to do this.
He exhaled deeply and pinched the bridge of his nose. It was absolutely frustrating. He wanted to do everything for Rebecca, but he was a good cop, this was wrong. He remembered what happened last night; the sensational feeling of him in her was amazing. It felt good partially satisfying the long yearning he had all these years.
But this is wrong, he thought, but his mind could not fight whatever was controlling his body, as he walked toward the nurse's station.
"Excuse me?" he asked with a smile.
The nurse looked up from her clipboard and gave a smile. "Yes officer? What can I do for you?" she replied.
"What room is Mrs. Sanders in?"
"Room 313, left wing officer."
"Thank you," he said with a smile and headed towards the elevator.
He went inside the elevator and pressed the third floor button.
He felt a slight chill running down his spine and it made him quiver a little. He cleared his throat and went out of the elevator as soon as the doors slid open.
He walked towards the room and saw Raven outside on the phone. He gave out a sigh. Wouldn't have to explain to the mother. Good, he thought.
Raven seemed to have seen him and gave him a smile.
"I'll call you back Miley.. . Bye," Raven said on the phone and hanged up, then looked at Officer Miles.
"Officer Miles! So good to see you," Raven said with a smile.
"Good to see you too Raven. How's your mom?" he asked.
"She's better," she replied.
"Good to hear."
"So, what brings you here? Are you here to visit mom?"
"Actually, I came here to pick you up," he said, guiltiness in his heart.
"Me?" Raven asked, shocked.
"Yes. So if you'll just come with me Ms. Sanders to get this thing done," he said holding her arm and slightly pushing her away from the room.
"Wait! Wait! What did I do?" she exclaimed trying to free her arm from Officer Miles' grip, but seemed to be emotionally jammed to do it.
"Where are you taking my daughter?" a Robert asked.
Both of them stopped walking and turned to face Robert as he strides towards them, carrying a duffle bag.
"I'll be asking your daughter some questions at the office concerning the crime that happened this morning," Officer Miles replied.
"Crime? I didn't do any crime," Raven said, shocked.
"I suggest you spare your opinion and answers when we get to the office," Officer Miles retorted.
