Chapter Ten
Raven cried aon Miley's shoulder. Miley tried keeping calm as she comforted her her, but soon found herself crying as well.
Raven was in the kitchen blaming herself, and Robert was at the back with his staff getting drunk, punching walls and breaking things.
Miley's mom, Regine, went in the kitchen and hugged the girls, leaving the sympathizers at the living room.
"Ssshhh. Ssshhh. I know it's hard, but please don't blame yourself Raven," Regine said in a soothing voice.
"But I was . . . there. I . . . could've done some . . . something," Raven replied her voice cracking.
Murmurs filled the kitchen making Regine roll her eyes
"I'll take care of the people," Regine said annoyed and headed towards the living room.
A loud crush came from the back followed by consecutive shutter of glass and a wild male cry. The backdoor swung open and an angry, frustrated Robert stormed in the kitchen.
Raven turned to look at Robert, his eyes filled with rage. The staff members rushed towards Robert but before they could reach him, he already hit Raven.
"Robert!" Regine exclaimed and quickly went to Raven.
"She deserved it!" Robert spat angrily.
The people from the living room seemed to have heard the commotion and soon, they were huddling at the doorway.
"She's your daughter. How could you?" she retorted, her brows furrowed.
"I lost a wife!"
"She lost a mother and a friend who understood her better!"
"So, are you saying that I don't understand her?" he asked angrily.
"You hit her Robert!"
"She killed my wife!"
"Raven didn't kill anyone!" Miley hissed.
"Miley," Regine snapped.
"She was the only one there! Who else could be there?" Robert exclaimed.
"Rebecca," Raven suddenly said in a hushed shaky tone.
Everybody turned to Raven as she brought an abrupt cold airy silence.
"Rebecca was there," she said as she looked at Robert.
Miley's heart pounded hard against her chest as guilt surge through her.
"Don't blame your fault on your sister," Robert said.
They went up to Raven's room when the fight on who's to blame, resided a little.
"You alright?" Miley asked as she sat next to Raven who was hugging her knees towards her chest.
"Fine," Raven replied with a sigh.
"You know Raven, I could like talk to my mom to stay with you, she'll understand," Miley suggested.
Raven just shook her head and looked at Miley understandingly, giving her a slight smile.
"I'm fine Miley, and there's school tomorrow," Raven replied.
"But-"
Miley was cut off when Raven's bedroom door swang open.
