Chapter Seventeen

Raven was recovering fast all thanks to Drake who never left her side.

"Raven?" Drake called out from the kitchen.

"Yeah?" Raven replied in the bedroom as she finished getting changed and went to the kitchen.

"I have to throw the trash," Drake said holding the garbage bag and it made Raven shrug.

"Don't worry, it'll only take a few seconds. I promise," Drake added when he noticed Raven's discomfort.

"Can't I just come with you?" Raven said.

"It's already late and you don't like it outside. I'll be quick, I promise," he said and went near Raven.

"Couldn't you just leave it in front of the house?"

Drake laughed. "They don't pick up trashes on the front porch like they deliver milk Rav. I promise to be quick."

     "You promise?" Raven asked.

"Promise," Drake replied with his smile and squeezed her hand.

"Fine," Raven said glumly and rolled her eyes making Drake chuckle.

"I'll be quick," he said and stormed out of the house.

Raven just shook her head and crossed her arms over her chest. She went towards the bathroom and was about to step in when she heard the front door close gently followed by footsteps.

"Drake?" Raven asked her heart pounding hard against her chest.

     No answer.

"Drake?" she called out again and slowly walked towards the living room.

Raven heard footsteps not far from her, and it sounded like it came from the kitchen.

"Not funny Drake," she said with nervousness in her voice as she moved towards the kitchen.

As she neared the kitchen, she heard the sound of a knife against the chopping board and the sound stopped as she entered the kitchen. She gulped as she heard the rustle of paper from her right. She slowly turned to look at it and winced when she saw something pop out from behind.

She exhaled deeply and placed a hand over her chest when she saw it was only a rat. She turned around to face the living room and was about to exit the kitchen when she heard the sound of chopping again, making her frozen on her spot. Her nose wrinkled in disgust when she smelled the scent of an Anthurium flower mixed with formalin.

Raven felt a cold gust of wind from behind, making her shudder. She gulped when the next thing she heard was the sound of laughter and the chopping noise getting louder. She couldn't bring herself to move.

"Well, well. It took me long enough to find you," Rebecca whispered in her ear.

Raven's breath started to go uneven and her eyes darted from one object to another. Her lips were quivering and her heart was pounding hard against her chest.

Where the hell are you Drake? Raven thought.

"Looks like your lover boy left you on the cliff hanging," Rebecca said from behind, making Raven shook her head.

"Don't you see Raven, he left you, so did everybody else," Rebecca continued but her voice was distant. Raven gathered up all her strength to put a foot forward.

"But I won't leave you Raven," Rebecca said as she suddenly appeared in front of her.

Raven jolted backwards making her fall to the ground, her eyes widen with fear.

"Surprised to see me little sister? It isn't like this is the first time you saw me," Rebecca mocked.

"What do you want?" Raven asked in a shaking voice.

Rebecca smirked. "You being dead," she replied with a sly smile and she stared at something beyond Raven.

Raven quickly stood up and headed towards the living room and tripped just in time to avoid the flying butcher's knife that hit the wooden coffee table. She stared at it with horror while gasping for air.

"Quick move Raven, but not quick enough," Rebecca said and another knife started to charge towards her.

Raven's eyes widen and she jolted to get up on her feet and dodged the knife, but a slight wave of pain run through her and it took a while to register that she'd been cut on the leg. She touched her leg and felt something cold against her fingers.

Rebecca laughed. "That should slow you down," she said and stared at her.

And another knife charged towards her, she quickly went to the door and almost hit her hand when it hit a few inches above the doorknob.

Raven hurriedly turned the doorknob and hurriedly closed it behind her as the butcher's knife charged towards her. She felt a thud from behind the door and tears started streaming down her face.

She started running away from the house, away from here. But where can she go? Rebecca would always find her. She won't stop until she's dead.

She didn't know where she was going, and all she knew was that she was running away. She knew it had been a while when Drake left to throw the trash. Was he part of Rebecca's scheme? Raven shook her head to shrug off the thought, but right now, where was he?

Raven suddenly hit something and she didn't want to open her eyes. The scent of his skin made her aware that it was Drake.

Drake wrapped his arms around her and she buried her face against his chest, crying.

     "What happened?" Drake asked worriedly.

Raven just shook her head and didn't look at Drake.

Drake carried her back to the house and opened the door finding that house was practically in order. There were no knives or signs of chaotic scratches.

"Raven, talk to me," Drake pleaded as he placed her gently down the edge of the bed.

Raven didn't answer and just buried her face in her palms. Drake's jaw clenched and his nose wrinkled when he saw blood gushing out from Raven's left leg.

"Who did this to you?" Drake asked in an angry tone.

Raven dropped her hands and looked at Drake teary eyed.

"You weren't here. I told you, you can't protect me," she said and stood up and headed towards the bathroom, then closed the door behind her.

Raven leaned her back against the door and exhaled then she heard a knock from behind.

"Raven, I'm sorry. I won't leave you again," Drake said from behind the door.

Raven didn't answer and locked the door. She run water on her cut and didn't care if her jeans got wet. She ripped a piece of her shirt and wrapped it tightly around her leg

She unlocked the door and went out of the bathroom ignoring Drake.

"Raven, I'm sorry," Drake said grabbing her hand making her stop.

Raven didn't face Drake and had her back on him when she spoke.

"Sorry couldn't bring me back to life if I were dead," she said coldly and she started to cry again.

"Raven, I'm really sorry," Drake said and hugged her from behind.

"I could've been dead," she said, her voice cracking.

"I promise, I won't leave you ever again."
