Chapter Fifteen
Raven woke up to the sound of her growling stomach. She moaned as she sat up, her body was aching and her head started to pound. She tried to stand up but lost her balance in the process making her fall hard on the ground.
"Shit," she muttered under hear breath.
She gripped on the dresser and pushed herself to stand up. She kept holding against the wall as made her way to the kitchen. She opened the cupboards and found to have just a can of expired beans. She groaned and rummaged through the drawer and found a can opener.
Raven took out a bowl and a spoon and poured the spoiled beans in. She took out a glass and filled it with water from the sink and sat on the kitchen stool. She looked down at her food, disgusted. But her stomach made it more appealing.
She ate the cold spoiled beans quickly and drank down her water as quickly as a snap. She exhaled and made her way back to the bedroom.
Raven sat on the edge of the bed and picked the duffle bag, placing it on her lap. She zipped open it and found clothes, and some necessities. She placed it on the bed and stared down at the bag wide eye to see it was half-full of bundled cash.
"Holy shit!" she exclaimed to herself and took a bill. She eyed it and started examining it if it was real, and it was.
"This must be worth thousands," she muttered as she grabbed hold of two bundled up hundred bills.
Then suddenly, a knock came. She froze at the sound and gulped. It could be Rebecca but she would appear out of nowhere, then, it couldn't be her. But then again, this is Beatrice's house, she thought.
She stayed in her place and didn't move. She let her heart pound fast against her chest until the knocks were gone. She gave out a sigh of relief.
Raven went inside the bathroom and started looking for bandages and medicines. Maybe some aspirins to sooth the pain, but found none. She walked back to the bedroom exhausted and numb.
She lay down on the bed and was about to sleep when she remembered something. She got up and started searching the whole house for any object that could be the source of death.
She found some knives and scissors in the kitchen and stuffed them in the garbage bag she found in one of the kitchen drawers. She placed razors and blades found at the bathroom. She took down all the mirrors in the house and threw it outside with the garbage bag.
She found some wood in the storage area and started sealing the windows. She threw all the carpentry equipment she could find, out of the house as well. She turned on every light in the house before she retreated back to the bed.
Raven lay on the bed, exhausted. She tried to close her eyes but they wouldn't. Her body was quivering from numbness and pain. She felt her body heat up and her ankle seemed to have swollen. She kept rolling around the bed but couldn't let herself to fall asleep.
It's been two days since Raven had seen sunlight. Two days since she'd had any sleep. Two days since she had eaten anything. Two days since the knocks. And two days since Rebecca hadn't showed up.
Her body was weak and numb. Her eyes were swollen and tired but she couldn't bring to close them. She needed to get something to eat or else she'll die.
But, that's what Rebecca wants, right? If she'd died a long time ago, none of this would've happened, she thought to herself.
Her stomach had been growling every minute and she'd been going back and forth to the bathroom to throw up. She didn't feel so good and her only friend was a pile of blankets that she'd hid under.
She needed to find the courage and strength to get out of this house sooner or later. She didn't want to end her life like this, she wanted something peaceful. But then again, you can't predict Rebecca.
