You are safe now

Hey there! This is my first story on Wattpad, so go easy on me! Just kidding...Hope you like it.

Chapter 1

Hello, my name is Cathy Reynolds and I am 17 years old. I live in a small town near California with my parents. Before your imagination starts running wild, I should probably let you know Ι am not like those California girls. You know the kind blond, tall, tan skin. A typical Barbie doll.
I am actually the exact opposite, my hair are long brown and I am slim, but not model size and my skin is more pale than tan.

I would love to tell you I have lots of friends and a boyfriend who loves me, but I'd be lying. I have only two best friends and no boyfriend. I am not the popular type of girl, I guess I am what you'd call the loser of the school.

Jenni and Clair are the only people who believe I am beautiful and worthy. I honestly don't think that highly of me, I believe I am like everybody in school thinks, a loser.

"Watch it, loser", said a boy passing me by. I get bullied a lot in school, but I don't mind anymore, I can't do something about it. It's not that I haven't tried, it's just not worth it anymore. That's why I try to survive through high school by keeping a low profile.

"Cathy!" I hear a girly voice screaming my name behind me, I turn around to see Clair flying down -if that's even possible- the school stairs and straight at me.
Clair has blond hair, but she is not tall or a total Barbie and she doesn't get bullied as much as I do. Her brother is at the swim team so people don't really bully her or dare to even tease her.

"Going home?" she asked me breathlessly, "Yes, I am. You?" I ask her trying to hide my smile, she was just a funny sight.
"I can't right now, my brother promised to take me home, but I have to wait for him to finish practice" she told me. I said okay and continue my way out of the school.

Few cars away from the school exit is the car of the most popular couple.
Stephanie and Daniel.
Clair had told me that Daniel doesn't really like Stephanie, but she is basically a slut, or if you prefer an easy lay and she is always around him. You might wonder how Clair knows those things, well her brother is best friends with the school's hottie Daniel.

Daniel is an innocent player, he flirts a lot, but he doesn't sleep around everyday. Of course that is another information from my dear friend Clair. I used to have a crush on him, but Stephanie, my personal devil, knew about that and made my life a living hell ever since. I still like him, but I don't even dare to look at him. Who wants another go with the she-devil!

I quickly pass their car and hurry to get out of this prison. From the corner of my eye I see Daniel staring at me, but I pay no particular mind on it as I persume behind me is a much prettier girl.

Before I knew it I was home and straight into my room. My parents are always at work so I don't have to yell "I'm home" from the door to anyone.
They love me, I know that, but they like their jobs a little more.
As usual, I put my pyjamas on, just a plain white summer top and a short if you can actually call it pyjamas.

I head down to the kitchen to make myself some dinner. I eat a sandwich since I am not particularly hungry and clean everything up before returning to my room and get my homework done.

After almost an hour, I had done every little essay and with enough free time to spare. I plug my earphones in my ears and change into soms shorts for jogging and another t-shirt. I take my keys with me and get out of the house.
I start running and heading deeper into the woods. I always loved the woods more than the park, it was much more quiet there, more peaceful and no one from school could make fun of me there for running.

After a few minutes I find my favourite spot, the lake. It was just a small lake deep into the woods away from the people's eyes. I sit under a tree and started singing the lyrics of the song I was currently listening, I kept singing and singing until someone tapped my shoulder. I took my earphones out and stand up to see Daniel looking at me with an amused expression.

"Hey, Cathy" he says looking right into my eyes, "Hey" I shyly reply, "You have a pretty nice voice" he compliments me and I immediately turn red, "You heard me? How long have you been here?" I ask him terrifying.

"Yes, I am here a while, I just liked hearing you sing" he says. I turn my gaze away while my face turned brighter.
"So, yeah. Ok. I should go" I stummer and start walking away from him, "Why don't you stay?" he asks, "I don't want to bother you" I say loudly and get lost into the trees.

Running I go back home, I felt like I was being watched, but that was most likely my imagination. I went inside and find my parents eating together. "Hey baby" says mom and I smile at her. After some talking about school, I decide that I was fairly tired and wanted to go to bed so, I hurried up to my room. I closed the door, took a bath in my en suite bathroom and went to bed thinking how fool I had made myself again and especially in front of Daniel.

Good job, Cathy. Good job.
