You are safe now

Chapter 4

A ray of sunlight woke me up.
The sun was burning bright through the window and into the room, I wanted to get up and close the curtains, but I was way to comfortable to move.

I turned my body to the left and a warm breath hit me. It smelled like forest, I opened my eyes immediately and saw Daniel laying there next to me like the last time with his hands around me. He looked so peaceful, so relaxed, like he was at the best place of the world.

Normally I would have freaked out and I would start yelling at him for being so close to me and touching me, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I liked how he was laying next to me with his hands around my waist holding me closer to him. I moved around a little and like a reflex he pulled me closer to his body.

I felt so safe there, like I wasn't venerable anymore. Smelling his sweet breath, seeing him sleeping with me in his arms, I could not leave. I couldn't just walk out. I closed my eyes again savouring this moment, you never know when I will have this chance again.

"WHAT THE BLOODY HELL!!" a girlie voice screamed causing me and Daniel to jump. "What is going on, what is she doing in your bed?" the girlie voice asked again loudly and I soon realised that it was Stephanie. Who else, the voice inside of me said.

I saw her standing at the door, her eyes were black and she looked extremelly scary. I froze in my place unable to move, I turned slightly my head and  saw Daniel rubbing his eyes like a baby.
"What the hell Stephanie, how do you walk inside like that?" he said to her, "What are you doing in bed with her?" she asked him shaking, "It's not what you think" I tried to say, but she only started shaking more "Don't talk you, slut" she told me.

Next to me Daniel started growling and shaking like an animal, "DON'T TALK TO HER LIKE THAT" he screamed at her and bowed her head. Why did she bowed her head, he was not some  king or something. They locked their eyes and it was like they had a mute kind of communication. Like Daniel was telling her something, and from his facial expression I can say that he was warning her. 

Stephanie closed her eyes, when she opened it again the black was no longer there. She glance at Daniel and then glared at me and left closing the door behind her. I heard her going downstairs and then the front door shut with a bang.

I looked at my hand which were resting at my lap, I couldn't talk but apparently Daniel could. "Don't worry about Stephanie she is just acting crazy, she thinks I like her and we are together or something", "Why am I in your bed?" I asked still looking at my hands.

"We, I mean Luc and I didn't know where you would be planning to sleep and since I was sleeping alone in this room, I- I thought that we could share the bed" he said slightly embarrassed. I nodded and tried to get up, but he caught me by the waist, "Where are you going?" he asked, "I am going to Clair" I said, "Why?It's still early we can go back to sleep" he said, "What? No, Daniel you saw Stephanie. I will be dead if I don't get out of your room" .

"Who cares what Stephanie thinks? And you won't be dead, I won't ever let anything happen to you" he said softly. "Why would you do that? Why protect me, I mean Stephanie is mean to me you can't be nice to me" I said. "Why can't I?" he asked confused.

I just stared at him and with a quick move I got up and walk out of his room. He run after me, "Wait, Cathy" he said. "I- I know that Stephanie is a bitch to you, but I promise you that everything will be alright, I promise" he said and kissed my cheek.

He smiled at me and walked away while I was just looking ahead. Was it my imagination or Daniel just kissed my cheek. I shook my head and went at Clair's room, "Clair?" I asked, I saw her laying on her bed pretending to be asleep. "I know that you are awake" I told her and she jumped off the bed and run to me. "Daniel just kissed your cheek and you slept on his bed last night" she said, "And Stephanie will kill me" I added.

"Who cares about her?" she said, 'You and Daniel are crazy. Tomorrow I will be probably in the ladies bathroom slaughtered" I said and her face got serious. "I know, I know. It will be hard" she said. I put my head in my hands and laid at her bed, Stephanie won't let this go, she will probably humiliate me or kill me abruptly.

"You know I don't think that Daniel will let her do anything to you. In fact I think he likes you" Clair said while desappearing in her giant closet. "I don't know, I mean yes he is nice to me all of a sudden, but I think that it might be a bet or something" I concluded. "A bet?" she asked, "Yes, like he bet that he could make me fall for him?" I said, "I don't know, but what if he really likes you? You might be our Alph-" she went to say something else, but she stopped. "Alph what?" I asked her, "Nothing" she said," Come on! I am hungry. Feed me" she bossed me and took my hand pulling me down towards the kitchen.

Like always, Luc and Daniel were there eating cereals. "Damn you brother" Clair screamed at Luc holding an empty cereal box. "Oh, that" Luc said. I quietly giggled and I saw Daniel staring at me with a smile full of happiness. "Want some?" he asked me, "No, thank you" I said and went to make some homemade juice. "Want some juice?" I asked them, "Sure let me help you" Daniel said and brought me some oranges. "You make the juice while we are fighting at the living room" Clair said while glaring at her brother. He glared back and within minutes they were lost in the living room.

I tried to concentrate on the oranges, but it was hard since Daniel was behind me. I knew it because I turn around I saw him staring at me smiling. "You will help or stare?" I asked and he laughed. He helped me make the homemade juice. We laughed the whole time, somehow he made me feel safe and happy, and confident like I was one of his friends, one he can talk and joke around with. He made jokes and I couldn't help but laugh, I made fun of him and he pretend several time to be fake hurt, but he always laughed it off in the end.

"You are gorgeous Cathy" he said suddenly. I raised my head and looked at him, his perfect face was full of happiness and joy, I wanted to kiss him so bad, but I restricted. This sudden urge was wrong, I could never make a move on Daniel. I could barely walk around the earth without falling off balance.

"Cathy?" he asked, "Wold you- would you go out with me?" he asked after several minutes of silence. I stared at him with wide eyes. Did he just asked me out, "What?" I asked him again, "You want to go on a date with me?" he asked me, "On a date?" I asked unsure.
"Yeah, you know dinner or movie or something more romantic" he said. "But Stephanie-" I said, "What about her? I told you I don't like her, she thinks she is my mate-" he said, "Mate?" I asked him and he looked at me with wide eyes, "Mate is, I- you didn't answer my question" he said avoiding the subject.

"Um, well. I would love to" I said eventually and his face lit up. "Let's get them their juices" he said, I took the tray with the juices and went to the living room with Daniel following me.

Clair and Luc were glaring at each other, "What happened, man. She beat you?" Daniel asked and I giggled, Luc just shook his head at him.

We sat at the living room at the exact seats as yesterday. Daniel was next to me and we all started talking and laughing, I felt like I've made new friends or a possible boyfriend. God, what am I saying?

The doorbell rung and Luc went to answer it, "Hey Sarah, again." he said a little disgust, "Stephanie" he nodded and then I saw Stephanie walking to our direction, I went to get up, but Daniel grabbed my hand and held me closer next to him. "Don't go" he pleaded me, I reluctanly nodded.
"Hey baby" Stephanie purred to Daniel like she hadn't barged into the room and made a scene an hour ago, "Stephanie,no" Daniel said to her.  She glared at me and told him something in the ear, he seemed disgusted, but I didn't pay much attention. I wanted to get out of this house, but Daniel was holding my hand tight.
"What are you still doing here, slut" Stephanie said and I saw Daniel shaking, I squeezed his hand out of instict and he smiled at me.

"Don't worry, I'm leaving" I said and looked at Clair who nodded and motion me to go upstairs. Daniel was looking at me with confusion as I followed Clair to her room. "I got to tell you something", I told her when we were in her room.

"Wait" she said, she took a paper and a pen and gave it to me. "They might listen" she said, "They can't listen all the way here" I told her she muttered something like "You think so", but she also said something louder, "Just write it" she said and with a sigh , I did.

I gave her the paper and she read it and looked at me with wide eyes..."You're serious?" she asked and I nodded. The paper was saying...

Daniel asked me out and I said yes.
