I shrug lightly, folding my arms comfortably as my eyes linger on the counter.

"Yeah, I mean obviously you never did. But since knowing how well you get along with her, I can't help but wonder why you guys were never more." I admit sincerely, letting my eyes drift up to meet his.

The dark kitchen is only lit by the moonlight shining through the nearby window, but somehow it's still enough to show off the curly haired boy's distinct features.

"I don't know, we kind of grew up with each other and bonded over music more than anything else. Suppose I never really saw her that way." He confesses, his eyes showing he's deep in thought.

My eyebrows narrow at his excuse, "But Noah and I grew up with each other, and somehow he fell for me even though I never saw him that way. What's the difference?"

He snickers softly, "Ayla and I aren't you and Noah, now are we?"

I press my lips together at his reply, unsatisfied with his easy and vague answer as I run a hand through my short, wavy hair.

"I don't know.. if I was Ayla, I can't imagine not having feelings for you." I state honestly, watching as his lips form into a slight smile.

"Is that so, Brit?" He remarks, turning his body to face mine as his brows raise in interest.

I can feel blood rushing to my cheeks as butterflies suddenly flutter within my stomach, a feeling that somehow has never seemed to vanish since I met him.

He starts coming closer, the space between us already small as is while my beating heart seems to start racing faster with every inch he crosses.

Before I know it he's standing right in front of me, and my chin is being guided up so that I'm forced to come face to face with the dimly lit teen.

My breath gets caught in my throat when my eyes meet his, somehow in this moment he's got me wrapped around his finger like never before for a reason I obviously could never conceive.

A sudden ringing breaks the tension between us as the microwave practically screams 'it's done' with every two seconds it beeps.

I reach out to the handle using my left arm, grabbing it while still practically being forced to leaning against the counter with Finn still standing in front of me.

I open the microwave just before a hand swiftly comes over mine and shuts it, leaving a low click to echo within the room at the harsh closing of the microwave door.

His hand takes my own from the handle and folds his hand into my own before pressing the back of my hand against the cabinet behind me.

My eyes go back to meet his, my chest touching his own with every shallow breath I take.

Slowly, his lips graze against mine, out his touch making a sudden fire to light in my chest as I kiss him back.

My free hand goes to his neck, pulling him closer as our lips move perfectly together in a way I can't even begin to describe.

"Damn, how long does popcorn take? All you have to do is throw it in the microwave and- oh my gosh, no fucking wonder it's taking you so long." Maddie exclaims as she makes her way up the stairs, catching us in the act once she reaches the top.

Finn quickly pulls away, releasing my hand from the cabinet as he takes a few steps back.

"Sorry, Mads." I say through a crooked smile while tucking my hair behind my ear subconsciously.
