Another Encounter

Demain was laying on the hospital bed with something holding his left foot up in the air and a arm cast on his left arm in a sling. It was like his whole left side got destroyed. He was wearing a hospital gown but it looks bumpy. I walk up to his bed still in tears and look down at him. His waist looks like it has a cast of some sort on it.

"Hey-- Athena." His voice is still shaky and it looks like it hurts him to talk. His mom is sitting on the other side of him in the chair next to the wall length.

"Hey Demain. How are you?" Then he chuckled.

"Well I'm pretty sure I look like shit right now and I feel like it too. But I'll get better. I'm a fast healer, so i'll be out in no time." I give him a small smile and nod.

"What's the damage, Ms.Knight?" I asked. Asking towards his mother.

"He has a dislocated shoulder, broken wrist and arm, a broken leg, and 2 broken ribs. Lucky his ribs didn't puncture his heart or he wouldn't be here." I nod my head and turn my attention back to Demain.

"Oh yeah --sorry I couldn't- come pick--- you up. I was on my way but--" cough cough.

"It's okay, it's okay. Don't talk. It must hurt." He nodded his head, then looked at something behind me. When I looked back to see he was looking at Noah.

"Oh yeah Noah is here too. He gave me a ride here and picked me up from the mall yesterday." Noah waved at Demain and Demain nodded. I guess it's silent thank you.

"Look at the time, I need to go to work. Athena right?" She said looking at me and I nodded yes.

"Can you stay with Demain till I get back?I don't want him to be here alone. " She started to get up ready to leave."

"Yeah. I can do that."

"Thank yo so much. I should be back around 7-7:30." I nodded my head and then she left. She's a psychologist. She must have appointments today.

"Well since you gonna stay here with him i'll go. Call me when your ready to leave."

"Okay Noah. Thanks." Then he left. Now it's just me and Demain. We can't do much but oh well. I walked over to the chair his mom was sitting on. I sat down and held his right hand. He was napping now so I can't turn on the t.v. He's a light sleeper. He'll just wake up as soon as it cuts on. So I take out my phone and read a book and play some games. After about a hour and a half a male nurse walks in. You don't see many male nurses.

"Oh hello, I'm Mr. Knight's nurse, Mr. Pitts. I just need to make sure everything is good." He was black, looked around mid 30's, and about 6 feet tall.

"Okay." He walked over to Demain's iv and checked his vitals on the screen. After he lightly tapped Demain shoulder to probably wake him up. Demain opened his eyes and looked at the nurse.

"Mr. Knight I need to check your injuries. Can I sit you up?" Demain nodded and the nurse proceeded to ease his chair up to where he was sitting up.

"Okay so first can you try to move your fingers on your left hand?" He tried and moved his thumb and pinky a little.

"Good." The nurse wrote something down on the clipboard then continued.

"Now for your ribs those won't get checked till Friday to make sure they are healing right. And for your leg it was completely broken. So we had to place a metal strip to line you bone back up. You will be wearing that cast for 13 weeks for both your arm and leg." Demain plays sports. 13 weeks for not being able to play. That must crush him.

"O--Kay." Was all he said. Then the nurse walked out. Since he was up I cut on the t.v. Some Chowder was on and that's my favorite cartoon. We watched it for a little until I heard my stomach growl. It is like 2. I haven't eaten since this morning.

"Yo-u are hun-gry?" I looked over to Demain and shook my head.

"I haven't eaten in a while but i'm fine babe. I just wanna be here with you." He shook his head and I knew he wasn't gonna not let me eat.

" Ughhh i'll be back in a bit then. Take a nap while i'm gone." He slowly nodded then closed his eyes. I waited a little so he could be really asleep. I've never liked hospital food but since i'm broke I have no other choice. I walk down and they are having some mashed-potatoes, meatloaf, and corn. Maybe it'll be decent. I walk over get some food and sit. While i'm eating I watch the t.v. in front me on the news. I hate them. Only saying bad shit with the world.

"Hey is this seat taken, love?"

"Duke I will punch you in your shit if you don't leave me the fuck alone." He then proceed to sit in front of me.

"Well we wouldn't want that now would we. Especially since your little boy toy is hurt."

"Leave Demain the fuck alone." I say through gritted teeth. He clicked his tongue.

Tsk. Tsk. "No can do. Your little fling with him needs to end your mine sweetheart. But i'll give you time to. Bye baby." I'll end our relationship when there is a zombie apocalypse. Now I feel uneasy. I throw out my unfinished food and go back to Demain's room.

When I walk in and he's still sleeping. When I walk to the chair there were flowers and a note.

'Don't forget your mine baby. This little phase will be over. Here are some flowers that reminded me of you'- Duke

They were roses of all colors. I threw them away and shivered. He was in here alone with Demain he could've done anything. That sick bastard.
