Later that evening, Ebony met the rest of his immediate family as the two were sitting at the dinner table. She smiled at the sight of him interacting with his younger cousins in their early twenties, and felt already as if she were apart of the family. After dinner, Bakari walked into the kitchen with a beer bottle in his hands watching his mom, sister, and younger cousins clean up. Ebony was currently loading the dishwasher and almost done putting away the dishes. She picks up the small detergent pod off of the counter and places it inside of the small compartment in the dishwasher before closing it. She sets the dishwasher and lets it work it's magic, dusting off her hands after she was done.
"Do you all mind if I steal Ebony for a sec?"
"We don't mind we're just wrapping up in the kitchen." Donna speaks up, setting her free.
Ebony wipes her hands on a paper towel and walks towards Bakari where the two disappear into the house.
"I want to show you around the city to show you where I grew up."
"Okay, when do you want to take me on the grand tour of the city?" Ebony asks, looking up at him.
"We'll head out tomorrow morning before everyone arrives for the family reunion. We won't get through everything but I wanted you to get a sense of where I come from."
Ebony nods, and walks with him to rejoin the family in the game room.

Later that night, Bakari and Ebony were in his bedroom dressed for bed taking the pillows off of the bed so that they could climb into bed. Ebony wore one of her favorite Victoria's Secret night gowns and ties her hair up with a scarf before climbing in to bed. Once in bed, Bakari looks at Ebony and watches her adjust herself underneath the covers. She yawns, covering her mouth and scoots closer to Bakari, to rest her head in his lap.He wraps his arm across her body, holding her and grazes his hand over hers before intertwining their fingers together. Ebony lightly squeezes his hand, mentally wishing that they were together.
Ebony
As we were in this moment of peace and solidarity, I closed my eyes, hoping that one day he would be honest and open with me that he wanted to be with me. I could tell that he was family oriented being around his family. It was a blessing to get to know them but deep down I was nervous about tomorrow, praying that I wouldn't do or say anything to fuck up.
We woke up early the next morning and got dressed for the day. It was July 4th, so we would be making our way back pretty soon to help set up around the house making sure everything was fully stocked. I dressed in a pair of blue jeans that were ripped along the knee, and a t shirt that read 'My Independence Day is June 19th'.
Bakari on the other hand dressed in blue jeans, a white tee, and white nike adapt sneakers that he couldn't wait to wear. He accessorized his look with his favorite pair of diamond studs, a gold chain that was around his neck, and a black guess watch. After checking my makeup one last time before we left, I grabbed a jean jacket off of the ottoman and my purse before heading out with him.
