It was nearing three am Saturday morning and he still wasn't home. She was slowly starting to regret ever being pregnant with his baby if he was going to act this childish. After the argument that they had earlier that evening, she couldn't help but wonder where he was, or what he was doing or getting himself into. She couldn't sleep, her nerves were through the roof and her back was killing her with the new extra weight she had yet adjusted to from the baby. Ebony sighs, rubbing away her saturated eyes and pulls her legs over the bed to get herself a glass of water.
While in the kitchen she hears the front door unlock and slowly open and watches Bakari drag himself through in his drunken stupor. He reeked of alcohol and weed. He sees her in the kitchen as he locks the front door with his key and takes off his coat to hang in the coat closet. He rubs his hands through his dreads, sighing as he made his way to his room, ignoring her to avoid confrontation.
"Where have you been?" Ebony speaks up, stopping him before he entered his room.
"I wasss out." He slurred rubbing his eyes.
"So you were out getting drunk and high and you didn't bother to tell me or respond to any of my texts or calls?" Ebony asks, finishing her glass of water before putting it in the sink.
Bakari sighs, rubbing his face. "Look can we talk about this in the morning? I really don't want to do this again with you."
Ebony sniffles, nodding her head and rubs her tired eyes. "I don't know what's gotten into you, Bakari but I hope this new you isn't a regular occurrence. We'll talk about this in the morning." Ebony says quietly before walking past him to climb back into bed.

The following morning, Ebony sat at the kitchen table with Bakari's roommates and Sheila eating a breakfast prepared by Jamal. She missed having coffee with her breakfast as the smell of it was intriguing to her, but she knew it was bad for the baby. Bakari was still asleep after the rough night that they had last night so she decided to leave him alone. She didn't want to deal with him right now.
"So how are things with Bakari and the baby?" Jamal asks looking at Ebony as he ate some of his eggs, watching her smile slowly fade to put up a fake one.
"Uh, we're fine. We're just trying to get used to this new adjustment," She referred to her baby. "But we're fine, why do you ask?" Ebony asks, eating some of her bacon.
The three friends look at each other to see who was going to discuss the elephant in the room. Jayson eventually speaks up, wiping his mouth off with a napkin.
"We heard you two arguing last night and it seemed pretty rough," Jay starts looking at her.
Ebony looks down at her plate, picking her food with her fork.
"We're just worried about you two and the stress that this new baby is causing-"
"It's not the baby that's causing stress," Ebony corrects them. "It's a certain someone who is unsure of what he wants. It worries me that, Bakari doesn't know what he wants, up until now I've always been so sure in what he's wanted and i know he's always wanted me but I'm afraid that I'm slowly loosing him. At this point with this child I feel like he feels like he's forced to be with me. I don't want to be in a relationship where the other party feels forced to be with me. Now we have a baby on the way with two parents who aren't in love...I just I'm regretting everything that's happened so fast."
From inside the bedroom Bakari was now up and stretching out his tense muscles. He could hear his friends talking about him from his bedroom and could hear the hurt and sadness in his girlfriend's voice as she talked about him. He decides to listen a little bit longer and eavesdrop into their conversation before he completed his daily morning routine.
