As Erik approached Ebony's apartment door he pondered what he was about to say when he would become face to face with the woman whom he'd have a secret affection for ever since he first laid eyes on her. He sighs, leaning back on his heels going over his speech in his head one last time before knocking on the door. Meanwhile inside, Shameik who was sitting next to Ebony in the living room was comforting his sister who was experiencing her second round of Braxton Hicks. She breathes out slowly, gripping onto his arm groaning in agonizing pain as she tried to breathe through her false labor contractions. Ebony whines in distress wanting nothing more but the pains to pass.
"Just remember those breathing exercises that Dr Jen went through, after the contraction subsides then I'm going to give you a Tylenol okay?" Shameik huffs rubbing her back in small circular motions to help ease the pain.
The knocks from the front door get louder catching her brother's attention.
"Go see who's at the door, it's going away." Ebony breathes out slowly, resting her back against the couch.
"You sure?" Shameik asks, watching her nod her head. "Okay, I'll be right back." He says getting up from the couch to answer the door. As he walks through the foyer to the front door, he stops momentarily to tap on the small wireless monitor hanging on the wall to turn off the security code before answering the door.
"Erik?" Shameik asks confusingly. "I thought you were in Jersey, what are you doing here?"
"I came to talk to Ebony, I'm in Atlanta for the next few months because one of my clients is out here and I just wanted to see how she was doing. "
"She's fine," Shameik replies.
"Really? I heard screaming from outside of the door I was just checking—"
"She's fine." Shameik responds sternly looking at Erik intensely.
"Okayy, well can I come in? I would just like to see her for a few minutes..."
"Meek, who's at the door?!" Ebony calls out hearing a familiar voice at the front door.
Shameik sighs, moving aside to let him walk past. Once he's inside he locks the front door again before walking further inside to see the look on Ebony's face when she saw that Erik was here.
"Erik?" She smiled, "I thought you were in Jersey?"
"I was but I have a client here that lives in the city so I'll be here for the next few months. You would've known that if you didn't go ghost on everyone what's up?"
"I just needed some time on my own." She shrugs.
"You can't just ghost everyone especially people who care about you Ebony..." Erik sighs, sitting down on the grey suede loveseat across from where she was laying on the couch.
"I know...I just...I've never dealt with this before...being pregnant and 'alone' in my first pregnancy there's a lot running through my mind and i don't mean to push away the people that i love...it's just my emotions are running high my hormones are spiked and sometimes I say things that i don't mean. I'm glad you're here, though." Ebony lightly smiles, hoisting her head up with her hand as she uses her free hand to slowly caress her protruding stomach. Her tired eyes hung low as she tried to stay awake for her company.
"I'm just glad you actually let me come in." Erik smiles until it quickly fades away when her brother walks in carrying a glass of water and a couple of Tylenol pills in hand to soothe her back pains.
"You okay?" Erik asks, watching her nod as she sat up long enough just so she could take the medicine.
"I'm fine," She sniffles, lying back down.
