PRESENT DAY
When Ebony awakened from her dream like state, she faintly panted feeling a cool layer of sweat down the middle of her chest, Aubrey's light snores filled the quiet room. The Netflix preview screen was on meaning that Aubrey had just fallen asleep not too long ago. She turned to her side to see his back facing the same direction as her, heaving slowly up and down while he slept.
Ebony slowly sat up and ran her hands through her hair, remembering that she forgot to put her scarf on to protect her hair. She reached across the nightstand to cut the lamp on and yawned as she climbed out of bed to take a quick shower to freshen up. On her way to the bathroom she picked up her phone off of the nightstand and bought it with her to the bathroom to complete her evening routine.
As Ebony stood glistening nude in front of the mirror, she gripped onto the edge of the countertop dropping her head down low standing in defeat as she was taking herself through another anxiety attack. She sniffled, as she broke down in tears being that she was unhappy with herself and the way that things turned out in her life. Her breathing hitched as she gasped for air until she was able to calm herself down.
Meanwhile Aubrey wrestled in his sleep, rubbing his eyes from a power nap that he just had. He looked towards his right where Ebony usually slept and saw that she wasn't there. He slowly sat up scratching the side of his beard as he listened to the faint sounds of Ebony's crying coming through the bathroom while Kanye West's song 'Through the Wire' played throughout the bathroom. She must be homesick, he thought to himself.
Unhappy with the way she looked in the mirror, she turned away and decided to dress herself for the evening, she was getting hungry.
A look she decided on was simple, a pair of grey joggers underneath her bikini set, and a loose long sleeved crop top tee exposing her midriff. She checked her phone to see a few unread messages from Sheila but decided not to answer them just yet. Her baby was on her mind, and her separation anxiety made it worse. Ebony breathed out slowly and scrolled through her contacts to find her ex's number and hesitantly dialed to check in on her newly one year old.
His phone went straight to a generic voicemail after a couple of rings but instead of leaving a voicemail she typed out a short text message to see how her baby was doing. After showing that it was delivered, she shut her phone off and got herself together long enough to exit the bathroom and head downstairs for dinner.
When she stepped outside of the bathroom Aubrey stood by the edge of the bed putting on a 'Waiting to Exhale' graphic tee. As Aubrey fixed himself up he looked up at her and could see her eyes were red, swollen, and puffy from crying.
"You hungry?"
She nodded quietly, this time in compliance.
"What are you in the mood for?" He asked her.
You honestly, she thought to herself.
"Asian cuisine...chicken fried rice, egg rolls, crab Rangoon..." She said as she walked closer towards him, snaking her arms around his waist, reaching up to peck his cheek.
"Chinese food it is, there's this dope spot called House of China not too far from here and they have everything that you're looking for and they do takeout and delivery. I can have one of my guys pick it up for us." He suggested.
"That would be so good right now I am starving..." she exaggerated.
Aubrey wrapped his arm around her shoulder pulling her in closer to place a kiss on her forehead. The two peered into each other's eyes and leaned in to peck each other on the lips.
