That Awkward Moment

After the meeting with his lawyers, and his wife's representation Bakari made his way out of the office building and rubbed his eyes feeling bad about the entire situation. Being around her again, bought a heavy weight to his spirit and he needed to get out of that aura. Once in his car, Bakari turned on his Bluetooth and called Ebony.

She picked up after a few rings when she saw that he was calling. "Hey."

"Hey wassup you doing anything?" Bakari asked.

"Nah, nothing much Im just taking my dog out for a walk with my brother. We're almost home though what's up?"

"I just signed off some documents for my divorce and I haven't seen you since you left on Sunday. I wanted to hang out with you, you know grab a bite to eat..." he suggested. "You been to Kandi's restaurant yet?"

"No, I've been meaning to go but I haven't gone yet."

"I'll pick you up, send me your address."

"You'll need a key code to get into the parking deck so I'll send you that now," Ebony sent him the code. "Are you asking me on a date?"

"No, it's just as friends remember we had agreed to that until my divorce was final?" Bakari reminded her.

"Right," Ebony cleared her throat. "Well I look forward to seeing you."

"Likewise, I'll see you in a bit." He exhaled and hung up the phone moments later to put her address in the GPS system before heading out.

Ebony and her brother made their way back into their luxury apartment building and pushed the elevator button to take the floor to the penthouse suite.

"You've got a date sis?" Shameik asked, nudging her with his elbow.

"No," The elevator dinged and the two made their way into the elevator with Bear, who was being held on a leash with Ebony.

Shameik presses the 'P' button on the elevator and enters the code to get in. Once back in their suite, Ebony takes off Bear's leash and watches him go straight for his water bowl.

"So where are you two going?" Shameik asked.

"Old Lady Gang, Kandi's family restaurant that just opened up not that long ago."

"So, you've got a date, that's a date night spot."

"I don't expect anything from him, I just see this as two friends going to get food and drinks." She lightly smiled.

"You're putting on this protective wall, this barrier because I know you like him but you don't want to get hurt. I don't want you to get hurt again sis,"

"I'll be fine baby bro." Ebony slightly smiled. "I'm going to get a shower and dressed, if he's at the door while I'm getting dressed, please answer it." She chuckled, and walked to her room to get ready for this evening.

While getting ready, Bakari had arrived. Her brother let him in and he introduced himself to her new 'friend'.

"Can I get you anything? A water a beer?" Shameik offered.

Bear walked up to Bakari and walked around his legs trying to sniff him. He then could sense that he needed some love and affection so he rubbed against his leg, whimpering at him to be picked up.

Bakari then bends down to rub his fur, excited to see the new puppy.

"You should feel honored, Bear doesn't really like strangers but he liked you. That should be a sign." Shameik smiles.
