For the rest of the night, Ebony and Bakari danced and got drunk together. Ebony trusted herself with him and Bakari the same. The two caught a ride home with the group of friends and couldn't keep their hands off of each other. Ebony giggled at something that Bakari said, and their friends stumbled back into their apartment, excited for what was ahead.
"I don't know about you all but imma hit the sack." Jayson yawned and made his way to his room.
"You Can crash here for the night Sheila if you want, I'll let you wear one of my shirts if you want to change into something more comfortable." Jamal offered.
"I'd really appreciate that, where's the restroom?"
"Down the hall on the left." He replied and followed her to his room and shut the door.
Bakari and Ebony were the only ones left in the living room and Ebony kicked off her heels and left them by the door. Bakari walks to the kitchen to make something to eat because he was hungry. He finds some food in the fridge from earlier that day, and takes the top off to put the food onto plates.
"Do you want any?" Bakari offered.
"Yes please." Ebony followed him into the kitchen she sat on top of the counter and watched him head up the left over spaghetti.
As the food heated in the microwave, Bakari stood in between Ebony's legs and placed his hands on her thighs, facing her. Ebony looked into his eyes, and placed her hands on his thick arms, and traced the visible veins in his forearm. Bakari chuckled and moved his hands up her thighs, lightly gripping them.
He then leaned in to kiss her, but backed away, still feeling emotionally attached to his wife.
"I'm sorry, I can't do this." Bakari heard the microwave go off and removed the food from the microwave, suddenly not feeling hungry anymore.
"Do you still want this?" He asked.
Ebony quietly nodded and hopped off of the counter to fix herself before sitting on the barstool to eat on the kitchen island.
"You still have feelings for her, don't you?" Ebony asked.
"Yeah," Bakari quietly whispered.
"I figured." Ebony lightly chuckled and watched him take the plate of food out of the microwave and hand her a fork and knife. "I mean, you're going through a divorce. I didn't really expect anything from you, it's okay if you don't want to go through with it, I understand. I just don't want to be dragged through whatever issues you've got going on. It saves the heartache but I'll always be a friend for you if you need it." Ebony sighs and starts to eat some of her food.
Bakari nodded. "Thanks Ebony, Im sorry I just thought that I was ready and..."
"It's hard letting go of feelings for someone, I know. I know it all too well. I just thought that when we agreed to this situation that we would put our feelings aside, and let it be just strictly sex. No feelings just friends with benefits."
"We did, but I just feel a sense of loyalty that I have to my wife. Even though she treated me like shit there's still a small possibility that she may want to fix things and I still have hope."
"You're crazy if you think that your wife wants to work things out. She already made it clear where she stands."
"She's my wife." Bakari defended her.
"Your ex wife." Ebony corrected. "Let that shit go! Let it go, it's not healthy Kari, it's not! I know you're hurting but you've got to move on. You have no attachments to her except for your emotions so the transition should be easier for you. I know it hurts, but you've got to let it go."
