You walk back into the living room. Zeldris is still in the salt circle, looking mildly irritated. Oops! You take his hand with an apologetic look and lead him out.

"Sorry, I don't usually invite people into the salt circle. I know it keeps people out but I forgot it could also keep people in."

"Did you learn anything from Pazuzu?"

"Nothing that will get us out of our current... situation."

You want to ask about Meliodas, but the dark mark is back and you're pretty sure it's not because of your little screw up with the salt. Besides, Zeldris is a little too busy preparing to summon his father. With all these things considered, you decide to wait for a better time to bring up this Meliodas guy.

This time you hover. Metaphorically.

"Can I help in any way?" you ask.

"No, I don't need any materials. I just need to focus. Can you sit in the salt circle? It might be safer there."

You nod and go sit in the salt circle.

"Actually, you should probably kneel."

You snort a laugh and Zeldris flushes, the dark mark disappears as his concentration breaks.

"I didn't mean it like that!"

You laugh harder as you get into a kneeling position. You look up at him and wiggle your eyebrows seductively.

"I bet you've seen tons of cultists in this position."

He tries not to laugh and fails. "The whole point of this summoning is to find a way to make sure you don't have to be in that position... or any others."

Both of you laugh; you're trying not to cry. You aren't sure how much of your laughter is stress and how much is real humor but it feels good all the same.

After things quiet down, Zeldris casts a circle of his own. It's made of swirling darkness. He speaks quietly in a language you don't recognize.

The air is electric and an aura of menace greater than even Zeldris' permeates the area.

A dark fire sparks on your floor.

There goes the deposit on your apartment.

You try not to look up at the figure that appears within Zeldris' circle.
