You are now Merlin. While Zeldris and y/n are out, you've been doing some research of your own. Specifically, you've been researching the nature of the ritual that summoned Zeldris only a few short days ago.

You and Escanor teleport into the graveyard to see if any of the humans in Zeldris' cult have some sort of book of shadows. Hecate assured you that y/n was pretty smart, but the stress of the situation had no doubt caused her to overlook the simplest place to look for clues.

Escanor is already radiating heat and light, which is convenient in such a cold damp tomb since it means you don't have to cast any light balls to see.

Escanor stays quiet. You step around the bodies and try to ignore the stench of three-day-old corpses. Escanor notices your nose wrinkling at the smell and excuses himself to look for a shovel. You suppose burying the bodies would make it easier to hide the evidence of the cult's activities.

You check the cultists' robes to see if they have pockets or personal items as you make your way over to what looks like an altar.

The robes don't have any pockets.

As you suspected, there's a book on the altar. You check for any curses before you touch it.

There aren't any.

You shouldn't be surprised. Looking back on the ritual with your clairvoyant abilities reveals that none of the humans had particularly relevant amounts of magic in their power levels. You pick up the book and move off into an adjoining room to escape the smell, only to see what y/n experienced the night she met Zeldris. You're tempted to vaporize the bodies and save Escanor the trouble of burying them, but you have more important work to do.

You flip through the book.

Holidays. No. But that might be an interesting read later.

Correspondances... sounds like associated plants and animals. Not noteworthy at the moment.

Is there any kind of table of contents or index?

You flip to the very front and the very back and don't see one. Whoever these humans were, they weren't very organized.

You continue flipping pages.

Summoning.

There we go, you think.

A noise alerts you to a presence outside the door to the chamber where you're studying. It's not Escanor, the energy is too dark. And it doesn't seem to be one of the demons in y/n's apartment who were told to be on their best behaviour and not break anything.

The door opens.

Ah.

So he's here.

"Hello, Gloxinia, it's been a while" you say.
