"Eight to three. Team Zeldris it is," Meliodas says.
Those in favour of Team y/n roll their eyes. Did Escanor get bigger?
"If you're ready, Captain, we could confront the Demon King directly" Merlin says.
"We're still missing some people, aren't we?"
"Ban and Gowther will meet us in the Demon Realm."
"What about Diane and King?"
"I haven't heard from them in a few centuries. I thought they were dead."
Meliodas nods, "I thought you might have heard something about them. I haven't heard from them either."
"In any case, we should have the numbers to make our point. We have gods on our side who are preparing to strike."
Your phone buzzes. Someone's calling you.
"Sorry," you whisper as you grab the phone and walk into the other room. The caller ID says your workplace is calling you. Oh, shit, were you supposed to work today? With everything that's been going on, you haven't even thought about your crappy minimum wage retail job. Something so normal couldn't really exist while all the weird supernatural stuff was going on. You sigh and answer the phone.
"Hello?"
"Where are you?"
Your manager does not sound amused.
"Uh..."
How do you explain this? There is no possible way for you to tell the truth without sounding like a crazy person, but with Galand nearby you aren't sure you can lie either. Okay, how do you condense the situation into a rational statement that will get you out of working today so you can focus on things like not dying and somehow getting out of the ritual without having your soul bound to someone who wants to kill you?
"Oh, uh, sorry... I've been having a... personal emergency."
Yes. Personal emergency is both vague enough to sound rational and truthful enough to make sure you won't turn to stone due to Galand's commandment.
"You were scheduled to work today."
"I don't think I'll be able to come in today."
"You'd better have a doctor's note or a death certificate, otherwise you're fired."
You freeze. Where the hell does he get off saying things like that? You're a damn good worker and he is way out of line to threaten you like this.
"Get here within the hour."
He hangs up. You don't know whether you want to cry or hit something.
Someone knocks on your doorframe and you turn to see Zeldris standing there.
"Is everything alright?" he asks.
"That was my manager. If I don't go into work within the hour I might not have a job to come back to."
"Do you want me to kill the manager?"
You laugh a little, "maybe someone should persuade him. I don't think we need another body to hide."
He grabs his sword, "persuade him?"
"I don't suppose anyone on Team Zeldris knows how to do mind control?"
He grins, "someone on Team y/n might have a commandment that allows him to do that. Let's go."
He takes your hand and you smile as the two of you leave your apartment.
