Galand stands and the pair of demons block Estarossa's path to you until he shoves them out of his way. You try to stand and put space between you but your knees give out and you're stuck on the couch. He makes his way closer and as he stares into your eyes he...

He can't move.

He. Can't. Move.

The same thing happened to you earlier when you... when you hated Hunter and Estarossa was watching you.

It clicks.

"You hate me," you say.

"I... No I--"

"Watch it, Estarossa, unless you want to be turned to stone for lying as well as being paralyzed by your own commandment," Galand says.

Estarossa glares at you.

"I haven't given you a reason to hate me, but you do. And now... now you can't move."

You relax a little bit.

He struggles to gain ground and laughs mockingly.

"No reason? You know my reason. You know it's wrong to keep him trapped here."

"I'm not trapping him."

"Lying with Galand in the room? Ha. Any moment now you'll turn to stone for that and when you do I'll pick up the statue you leave and throw it out the window. I might eat your soul, too."

As you have not been turned to stone, you stand, knees wobbling, and step towards him, trying to steady your shaking hands. For a moment, you see apprehension in his eyes. You hold up the remote for the Agony Matrix and he flinches. You force your face to become expressionless.

"I'm not going to use this, right now. Even though you hurt me, I won't hurt you. And it's not because I've forgiven you, I can't do that and I don't think I ever will, but for now I'm making the choice not to hurt others even if they truly deserve it. If you ever try to hurt me again, I might not be so kind. Just go. Leave me alone."

The door opens behind you.

Estarossa grows increasingly frustrated with his inability to move before seeing whoever is behind you, giving up, stepping back, and leaving.

You turn and hug Zeldris. Tears sting in your eyes, but he's back. You're safe now and you feel yourself relax as he holds you in his arms. When he notices the bruises on your neck, he pulls you closer.

"What happened?" he asks quietly.

"Estarossa happened," Melascula says, "oh! And because Estarossa happened, y/n killed her ex. Still don't know how a guy like that managed to summon him in the first place."

Why does Melascula sound so proud?

Zeldris pulls away for a moment so his green eyes lock with yours.

"Are you alright?"

Any words you might have been able to say die in your throat. Tears well up in your eyes and all you can manage is to shake your head. He pulls you close and says something about hiding the body to Melascula and Galand. The other demons leave suddenly and Zeldris leads you over to the couch.

Something isn't right.

You don't know what isn't right, though, Zeldris is with you. You're safe. You're probably just overthinking it.

You sit next to Zeldris and curl up with him.
