The demon runs a finger down your cheek.
“It’s always nice when I can kill two birds with one stone,” he says.
“What do you mean?”
“Someone summoned me and wanted to be brought to you. If he winds up killing you, well, that frees my brother from the ritual. If you kill him, I get the soul he promised me a lot faster than I would if I waited until his natural deathday and I’ll… I’ll go easy on you.”
“You’ll go easy on me? What do you mean?”
“I’ll make your death quicker than I was planning to make it.”
His hand is at your throat and squeezing.
You struggle to breathe.
You try to push him away.
You hit him with your banishing rock and all he does is grin and grab the wrist of the hand that’s holding it. He twists your wrist until your banishing rock comes out of your hand and tumbles to the floor.
He picks you up by the throat and shoves you against a wall, leaning in close to whisper to you as you kick and claw at his hand and the tears in your eyes from your struggle pour down your face.
“Make no mistake, human, I am going to kill you and it will hurt the entire time you are dying.”
He drops you and you cough, trying desperately to get some air back into your lungs as you gasp.
The demon throws you into another wall and you can’t bring yourself to get up.
You’re much closer to your banishing rock.
He opens the door and lets someone else in.
“No…” you rasp as you drag yourself over to your bed. Maybe you can hide under it. Part of you wants to equate that feeling to that of a scared child hiding under the covers at night when they hear a strange noise, but you are an adult and the real monsters are right in front of you.
Hunter laughs when he sees the state you’re in and grabs your ankle before you can completely crawl under the bed.
“Thanks, Estarossa. I can’t believe this really worked,” Hunter says.
“You kids have fun,” Estarossa replies as he leaves.
Didn’t the Demon King mention an Estarossa?
One who never had trouble “completing” a sacrifice even if it meant rape or murder?
Was that the same one?
You have more pressing things to worry about.
Yes, Estarossa will probably kill you later.
