Chapter 12.

One Week Later
Hikaru sat at his desk in class, not saying anything. Not only will he never be able to see his son or daughter, who he still loved and wanted in his life. But the other parent in that relationship who he was loyal to and loved dearly, had just broken up with him, and there was a decent chance it was because he didn't want Hikaru to find out.

Hikaru only noticed he was beginning to cry when he saw a small drop of water fall on his paper. Hikaru shut his eyes tightly, why couldn't he just move on?! Then he felt a tap on his shoulder and jumped. He then looked to his side and saw Kaga looking at him with concern.

Kaga: Are you okay...? You've been acting depressed like this all week...

Hikaru looked down at his paper, which was getting soaked since Hikaru couldn't stop crying. Kaga patted him on the back.

Kaga: Do you want to head outside for a bit once class is over...? It's nice out...

Hikaru nodded, not looking up from his paper. After class they took their work and walked outside. Hikaru leaned on the railing of a deck and so did Kaga.

Kaga: You want to tell me what's wrong...?

Hikaru looked at him.

Hikaru: I thought you told me you didn't want to push me into saying anything...?

Kaga: I'm not going to, but you might feel better if you talk to someone about what's going on...

Hikaru looked at the ground and then back at Kaga, smiling weakly.

Hikaru: Th-Thanks...

Kaga: Huh?

Hikaru: Thanks for putting up with me this past week...

Kaga: It's no problem, you just needed some space...

Hikaru looked back at the ground.

Hikaru: I'm also saying thanks, for me meeting you when I did...

Kaga: That bad huh...?

Hikaru nodded.

Hikaru: I... I was in a relationship with someone... I've known them for my entire life... and we've been together since elementary school... several months ago however... I found out that we were having a baby... I pretended not to know... because I didn't want to stress Kaoru out... I also treated him as best I could... I helped him out and showed I loved him at every chance I got... but, then I found out he was planning on giving the baby up for adoption... Then last week... he broke up with me...

Kaga looked at the ground.

Kaga: So, kinda like me?

Hikaru: Hm?

Kaga looked at Hikaru causing the two to lock eyes.

Kaga: I had a girlfriend a few years ago... and I found out that she had aborted our baby without telling me. And that put a huge strain in our relationship... I was crying constantly... we got in fights more often... then eventually, we broke up.

Kaga looked at Hikaru.

Kaga: Your situation is worse though... for sure...

Kaga held Hikaru's hand and squeezed it gently.

Kaga: I know it's difficult to move on from that... but, after what happened with me... I got into contact with people like you, and they helped me move on... I might not be much, but I feel like it's easier to move on if you know there are people on your side, who have gotten in the same situation as you...

Hikaru smiled at Kaga and squeezed his hand.

Hikaru: Thanks Kaga... you know...

Hikaru sounded a little hesitant to speak.

Hikaru: Before... before Kaoru broke up with me... I started feeling something weird when I'm around you. And I'm sure it's love... seeing as I became familiar with the feeling during middle school... but I tried to brush those feelings off because I wanted to stay loyal to Kaoru... but, now that plan has been thrown out the window... and whenever I don't think about college... or my child who I'll never see, or Kaoru... I... sorry... I-I just realized I've been rambling...

Kaga: It's fine Hikaru... but... I'm sorry...

Hikaru: For what...?

Kaga: I, I don't have those same feelings... I just think of you as a friend... but that doesn't mean I don't care about you... you didn't deserve to go through that...
Meanwhile
Haruhi sat across the table from her dad awkwardly. She had no idea what to say, and it seemed like Ranka didn't know what to say either. He opened and closed his mouth several times within ten minutes before finally speaking.

Ranka: Um... How has college been going...?

Haruhi looked up for a moment.

Haruhi: Uh... good... it's been going good...

Ranka hesitated.

Ranka: Um... so... Kyoya told me you had a girl...?

Haruhi nodded.

Haruhi: I, named her Shiromi... She's almost a year old now...

Ranka smiled a little.

Ranka: I, wish I was there when she was born...

Haruhi: Y-you were busy, and we weren't in contact at the time-

Ranka: But it was my fault we never saw each other after you came home from school last year... I don't think I'll ever forgive myself for what I did...

Haruhi: Dad... that wasn't-

Ranka: Don't say it wasn't my fault because it was. You're my daughter, I should have reacted better, you're all I have left and I just-!

Haruhi: Dad you said you're sorry... and you're here for me now...

Haruhi got up and hugged her dad. Not realizing how much she needed it. Ranka looked at her and hugged her tightly. Hoping he'll never let her go this time.

Ranka: At least you had Tamaki and your friends with you...

Haruhi shook her head.

Haruhi: N-no... they weren't there for m-me either...

Haruhi suddenly started to cry, Ranka's eyes widened and he responded by hugging her tighter.

Ranka: W-what happened...? Why weren't they there for you...?!

Haruhi: T-T-Tamaki lied to all of them and they got mad at me for it... they ended up bullying me and never spoke to me the rest of the year...

Ranka: What did Tamaki tell them...? And, how is Kyoya with you now?

Haruhi calmed herself down.

Haruhi: Kyoya found out that what Tamaki said was a lie, and he apologized, so did everyone else except Tamaki... as for him... Tamaki told everyone that I cheated on him...

Ranka's eyes suddenly filled with rage. Haruhi looked up and saw it.

Haruhi: D-dad...?

Ranka: THAT BASTARD DID WHAT?!
