"Michael... He is a good boy... But..."
"He likes you," Ashton interrupted.
"No more than he likes Tay, but I rather stay as his friend."
"You're honest!" he replied with a smile on his lips, "and I need to meet that girl, Tay, you always talk about her, but I don't even know her!" Ashton complained.
"She works at the Agnelli's PhotoLab, I'll take you there one day."
"Promised?"
"Promised!" I replied with a little laugh, we were acting like 5 year olds and I liked it, "next question."
"What did Luke tell you the other day?"
"Cheater!!" I denied with my head and laughed, "I'm not going to tell you, don't be curious Irwin!"
He looked at me with his right eyebrow arched.
"Sorry Ash."
He smiled and his dimples were now on full display.
"I'm not going to tell you!"
"Does it have to do something with me?"
"Well... It has to do something with me, Mikey, everybody!" I rambled on trying to make him forget what happened that day, "last question!"
"Is it the last one," he asked frowning.
"Yes it is Dimples."
"Well, you know Sharon better than anybody, and you know me pretty well too, am I right?" I nodded, "do you think Sharon and I...? No, I know, Do you really think she's the one for me and vice-versa?
I opened my eyes widely, was he really asking that, I licked my lips suddenly dried and swallowed the lump in my throat.
"Well.. Look," I stammered. "it is not about what I think or what the rest of the people think; even though you've heard what they say, that you're made for each other; but what really matters is what you both feel, if you love her and she loves you back, that's what counts,"
He had both, his gaze and his head down.
"Thanks," he said in a barely audible voice.
"Whenever you want Ashton!" I replied with a smile.
All of the sudden he raises his head making me jump a few inches back.
"I have to go, tell Shar I'm sorry," he got up from the couch and walked to the door.
"Where are you going?" I inquired, lost, still sitting on the couch.
"The game is over Dawnie," he smiled showing me those white pearls. "See you tomorrow Dawn!" he announced walking out the door.
He left me in this room, alone, and I suddenly felt the need to keep his presence next to mine, to have him with me.
I rolled on the couch, grabbing the rose he had given me and I sighed. I ran to my room and looked desperately for the pictures that were hidden in the bottom of the last drawer, I took them out and admired them sitting in the corner of my bed.
What was that feeling I felt in my stomach?, Why my heartbeat raised when it shouldn't?, Why I felt like I liked him?, I wasn't oblivious at the fact that he was really handsome and awesome in every single way, but somehow it didn't feel right.
Being with him was like not wanting the time to run, like wanting to stop the clock and keep it still; his hazel eyes swelled my heart every time I looked at them, he made me feel pretty with just a kiss on the cheek, the smile I admired on his features filled me with an unexplainable feeling, he made me remember what is to feel, what is to be.
Irwin, Ashton, his name wasn't important at the moment; what mattered was this almost touchable anxiety that made my breathing unsteady and my hands sweaty.
"No!" I told myself, I threw the pictures back where they belonged and shut the drawer furiously.
"Dawnie!" Sharon's voice was back into my ears, coming with the sound of the door closing, it felt like someone just pushed a button, because just at the moment I heard those noises I got up from the bed to run outside my temporary room.
I looked at Sharon. "Hello," I murmured.
"Where's Ashton?" he asked leaving her Louis Vuitton bag on the table.
"He left."
"What?, he just came and left?"
"Yes," I gulped uncontrollably. "he told me to tell you how sorry he was for not being here for you, but he had to do something." I felt my blood pressure lowering.
"Are you okay Dawn?"
"Yes!, of course I am, why would I fell wrong?" I forced a smile.
"Well, because I know you and I think you're nervous," she pointed out.
"Me?, nervous?" I shrugged, "Why do you think that?"
"Dawn." she looked at me with her piercing blue eyes accusing me, "Well you know what?, forget it, I'm just too tired," she yawned dropping herself on the couch, then she looked at the coffee table, "And what's up with that rose," she pointed at the delicate flower that was resting on the table.
I opened my eyes like soup plates.
"Did Michael give it to you?" she asked, her face illuminated with curiosity.
"Well... Mmm... Ashton." I said.
"Ashton?" she asked narrowing her eyes, her voice filling with a confused tone.
