The contact of his hand with my arm made my skin burn, I spun in my heels to take a better look of him, I expected to see on his features the same expression I saw yesterday, but it wasn't like that, his eyes were looking at me the same way they always did, tender, inspiring, and sparkling.
"Dawn, can I talk to you for a sec?" he asked in a sweet voice.
I nodded and he let go of my arm.
"I think," hr started talking, staring at the wooden floor beneath us, "I owe you an apology," I kept quiet, I didn't know what to say. He raised his hazel-green eyes and as I didn't talked he did, "for what happened yesterday, our little argument, I... Uh... I'm sorry, and I should've thanked you for backing me up, I don't see anything wrong in giving a flower to a friend, but you were right."
"Right? In what?" I furrowed my eyebrows together.
"About what you said yesterday, of how I should give that kind of things to Sharon, she's my girlfriend," he smiled, "isn't she?"
I wanted to bite my tongue and swallow all the words I spoke yesterday, but I couldn't, I was right and I hated it.
"Of course," I faked a smile.
"So..." he hesitated, "are we fine?, I mean, we're still friends, right?"
'Friends' that word bounced in my head like a basketball and I hurt.
"Yes, we are." I gave him a little smile.
"Great!" his smile grew.
"Dawn, Ashton!" yelled Sharon coming into view again, "what are you doing there?" she walked to us and took each of is by the hand, we had no option, we had to follow her.
"Dawnie! I saw a few dresses I know you'll love!" she said excited.
I smiled, faking enthusiasm.
She took us to the back of the store, and she showed us the three dressed she had already picked up for her: a green one, a purple one and a black one.
"Go over there Dawn!" she gestured to a little space of the store where she knew I would find a dress.
I walked to them and started passing my hand through the stacks aimlessly. Pink, red, black, yellow, I could see the colours but nothing else, my mind wasn't here on earth.
Friends, his statement made me think of my destiny, if I had dreams, hopes or even little speculations of any kind in my head, I had to throw them all away, nothing was going to happen, NEVER, and all because he was my best friend's boyfriend.
"I think that one would look great on you," his voice brought me back to reality, but I was still a little gone.
"What?" I asked dumbly.
"That one," he said pointing at a beautiful blue dress, it was a long, strapless Royal Blue dress with little details in silver, it was breathtaking.
I reached the dress and Ashton followed me.
"I think it's too spacious," I said.
"I think it's perfect and it would look really great on you," he said to me, "besides, it's my favourite colour."
I tried the dress on, just like Sharon was doing with the dresses she picked out.
"You look fantastic!" answers Ashton when Sharon asked him how did she look.
She had already tried the green dress on, and I was wondering which one was she trying on now, while I was still fighting with the dress.
I walked out the dresser when I was done.
They both turned to look at me, their eyes opened widely, astonished.
"Do I looked that bad?" I asked a little bit intimidated by the looks on their faces.
