"Psst, Mandie," I heard her say and even through my deepest dreams, I could hear her voice loud and clear.

"What?" I said in a low mumble, still keeping my eyes closed. I didn't know if I was dreaming again or if this really was reality so instead of facing the voice, I turned away.

"Wake the fuck up," She growled, her fingernails digging into the sides of my arm, "You're lucky I could see you in that dull dream of yours."

She was right. I was dreaming about sailboats and how windy it gets when you're at the front of it. Why? I have no clue, but it was enjoyable and right now all I needed was a little relaxation.

"I'm sailing, go away," I groaned, pulling the covers of my bed above me. I felt my fingers intertwine with the sheets, feeling a material I was not familiar with. What happened to my soft sheets?

My eyes snapped open and suddenly my sailboat dream wasn't so mesmerizing anymore. I was in a dark room with no lights and instead of my huggy pillow beside me, I caught a glimpse of a spell book sitting atop the nightstand beside me.

"Thank goodness you're back to life," Jess smiled, her arms reaching out to grab me in for a hug.

"Jessica?" I almost cried, feeling the warmth of her around me. She patted my back, giving me reassurance that all was well.

"I've missed you," She whispered, "I'm so sorry for everything."

I swallowed down the knot forming in my throat and held down a few tears already escaping my swollen eyes.

"I'm sorry too," I spoke, "How did you find me?"

She broke our hug and finally laid a hand on mine, "I just tried channeling you through a couple of your items from home and was finally able to get access into your thoughts. I saw you sitting on some chair here, so I looked up all the bars in town and when I came here I could read your thoughts. I knew you were close..."

I looked down, trying not to meet her gaze as we both knew the topic we were avoiding.

Jesse.

"So is he here?" She asked, lowering her voice.

I nodded, "Yes, but I don't know where he went. He kind of, well...forced me to sleep again. I don't know what he's trying to hide, but he obviously doesn't want me finding out."

She reached into her purse, pulling out a few clothes from home and laid them out in front of me.

"I didn't know if you would need anything, so I just brought you some clothes and a few tampons," She answered.

"A tampon?"

"Yeah, well. You never know when that bitch is gonna show up," She smiled, "So just in case."

We both shared a laugh, mine louder then hers once I realized how much I truly loved my best friend right now.

"Did you say anything to Steph and Hannah?" I asked, beginning to slide on the tank and shorts she had brought me.

"No, I don't think they'd really get it. Telling someone you're psychic and that your best friend ran off on you and you can read her thoughts might be too much for Stephanie to comprehend. So I told them you had to make an unexpected trip home."

I smirked, knowing full well neither of them would believe that I ever wanted to go back home to Georgia just to take a sporadic trip.

"So...what have you been up to?" She asked, her tone changing. Immediately she began rubbing the back of her neck, almost like she could feel the pain I had been in last night.
