My name is Sophia Smith. About 2 years ago I moved from Brighton to London to become a P.E. teacher. I now find myself just 4 hours away from marrying the man of my dreams. Well, the man of so many other people’s dreams. The man who is MY Prince, as long as the rest of the country’s. A man who resembles so much of what his mother stood for. A woman who was the epitome of beauty and class, even in her last days on this earth. The man I will marry is everything I could have ever dreamed of. He is kind, thoughtful, gorgeous, and best of all. He is mine.

So here I sit, in my hotel room with my mother, sister and best friend, Catherine, in the room with me. I take just a few moments to take in what is going to happen today. I am going to get married in front of roughly 1 billion people in the second royal wedding of the decade. I am going to get married in Westminster Abbey. I could have never of thought this  was going to happen to me. When am I going to wake up from this dream?

Suddenly, I snap back into reality by the vibration of my phone on the table. I had a text from Harry, it read, ‘Good morning beautiful. I think something’s going on today? Is it someone’s wedding? Oh yeh… It’s ours I remember. Just thought I tell you that I love you and this is going to be the best day of my life. Knowing I will spend the rest of my days with you is enough. I’ll see you at the altar, wifey! I love you baby girl. Your H xxx.’ I giggled at how he tried to make the topic a jokey type of subject, but I knew it was all down to how nervous he really was. I replied, ‘Morning handsome. You didn’t think I would forget did you? I’ll be there, don’t you worry your little socks. I love you baby. See you there, hubby! Your S xxx.’

“Right. I believe Catherine needs to make me look beautiful.” I said to the three people standing in my hotel room.

“I don’t know about that, but I can certainly try. You’re already halfway there.” Catherine was my make-up artist for today, as I thought her make-up she had for her wedding day was to die for. My sister and my mum were already done and ready to have their hair done, so it was all down to business for the day. “Was that Harry who text you?” Catherine asked while putting a little foundation on my face.

“Yeh he just said that he loved me and he’ll be waiting at the altar. You know the usual for a day like this.”

Catherine giggles, “Will was like that on our wedding day. I think my mum took my phone off me actually.”

I giggled with her, “Catherine. I’m really scared.”

“I know you are. You’ll be ok. I promise.”

“Thank you for being here for me big sis.”

“Anything for you little sis.” We both giggled and she got down to the very difficult things she had to do. Once that had been done and my hair was also done, I unveiled the tiara Harry’s mother’s side of the family decided to offer me. It was one of Diana’s favourite tiaras, the Spencer tiara. I was amazed that they would have even let me anywhere near this beautiful piece of jewellery. That was the ‘something borrowed’, the ‘something new’ were a pair of earrings from my parents and the ‘something blue’ was the lining of my shoes, which were pale blue.

I stood in front of the full-length mirror in the room and looked at the reflection in astonishment. The woman standing in front of me looked radiant, flawless and beautiful. Completely different to the normal me. My mum stood next to me and said, “My baby’s going to be married in an hour.”

“Oh mum please don’t cry. You’ll start me off! Then, Catherine will get very annoyed!” We both giggled, mum and Luke gave me a quick hug and kiss, and left. It was only me, Catherine, Charlie and my father left in the room. Just after mum left, Charlie and Catherine went down to see how the little bridesmaids and pageboys were. So, I was left with my dad. He started speaking before I could say anything, “Soph, before you say anything, I am so proud of you. You will always be my little baby, and nothing’s gonna change that. Just remember we’re still here, right?”
