chapter thirteen

I walked into the Café and spotted Adrian at a window seat

"hey you came!" He said with enthusiasm

"I said I would don't I?"

"Yah well you had a tendency to not show up before."

"You forget I'm not the old me anymore."

"To bad to you used to be so much funnier." I punched him in the arm

"What was that for?" He held his arm but it was obvious it didn't hurt him.

"Find that funny?"

"No, I didn't actually."

"But I've got to be back before 5 today," I told him so he knew we couldn't hang out for more than a couple of hours.

"Aww, do you have a curfew?"

"No, I just want to be back before Rose gets home. But speaking of.. why didn't you tell rose you knew me? I mean you work with her and stuff."

"I didn't tell Rose the same reason I didn't tell you."

"But you still asked her about me?"

"She tells you everything doesn't she?"

"Learn to love it, you still didn't answer my question."

"I asked her about you to see how you were doing. That's how I found out you worked at the Café, and how you had a place to live, and you didn't go crazy or something."

"Stalker." I murmured

"It's not like I could go up and ask you?"

"Because....?"

"Ice told me not to."

"Aww, do you have a babysitter?" I said mocking what he said earlier about curfew.

"No, but that lady hits a lot harder than a girl is supposed to."

"Wimp."

"Jerk."  We both looked at each other and started laughing

"Ok sorry, what do you want to do?" Adrian asked me.

"I honestly have no idea, what do you usually do here?"

"Depends on who I'm with."

"Flatter me."

"Well if I'm with Ice we just go to a cafe and then back to work. If I'm with a date I'll usually go to the shopping stores but if I'm with a friend's I'll go to the arcade or movie theater."

"Well since I don't really fit into a category why don't we do all of it?"

"Do we have time for all of it?"

"Sure. Look it's..." I checked the time on my phone. "Almost 1:00 right now so we'll have about four hours. We'll not do the movie because it's too long and then we will have a little more than an hour for everything else."

"Ok then, where to first?"

We decided we'd go get some food first then stop at the stores and then the arcade, because best for last. We got smoothies and fries and then went shopping.

"You could totally rock this," I said trying not to laugh as I held up one of the ugliest shirts I've ever seen.

"I was thinking the same exact same thing. I could bring ugly back in style with this one shirt." He said playing along

"Even you couldn't pull this off."

"You'll learn I can pull everything off."

"Really? Even these?" I pulled out some skin-tight bright yellow leather pants and we both lost it
