"I think this is the end of the tunnel."
"I don't know."
"Dylan, we've been walking for almost an hour, I think it's starting to get dark above the ground." My sister said.
"What should I do Dora? Now stop whining like a little kid and get moving." I snapped at her.
The more we walked the darker it got; the narrower it looked like; the taller it seemed. But I didn't give up like my dear sister did, because I knew that by the end of the tunnel is something important waiting for us. Patience is a virtue, after all.
"You've got to be bloody kidding me!" Dora groaned once the channel ended. "I knew it was a Bobylone foolproof plan from the beginning. But you never listen!" She started rambling and tossing profanities at me.
My sister kept throwing pebbles from the ground at me and the wall, yelling 'move!' As she did do. I was sure she lost her sanity by now. I tried to concentrate but due to her constant blabbering in my ear, I couldn't.
"Dora for Satan's sake, for the umpteenth time today, bloody shut your filthy mouth up!"
She huffed and went to sit by the cobblestone, but still the profanities did not stop.
I did as we did previously and got hold of a torch to light up the place a little, and maybe light up my brain while we are at it.
"I think that-- hold up!-- Are those stairs?"
Dora stood once at the sound of my voice and walked towards me. She nudged me then I showed her the thin ladder that is either the same shade as the wall behind it or due to all the dust in that passageway started to get real dirty.
"They look like it." She stated.
I went towards the ladder and hauled on it to check if it is strong enough or what, when it didn't alter I put my hand on either one of them post giving Dora the torch that was in my hand, Then I started to climb up the ladder.
"Wait here I'll check if it's safe I'll come out and get you, If it's not..." I trailed off.
"If it's not what?"
"We'll see," I put my right leg on the first step and started to climb."Dora light me up a little, will you?" She raised the torch in the air, and I did see better once she did. But not for long, though.
It took me about several minutes to reach the top of the ladder, it was utterly dark in here, and too quiet as well, I am not really a 'height' individual so I was not going to look below me. Plus, I wasn't going to see anything if I did.
When I reached to the point where there was no more steps for me to take, I raised my head a little when I collided with a metal beam at the ceiling, I raised my hand to check on what's upside, the other hand I used for support.
I kept caressing the metal thing, searching for anything that would lead me outside of this hellhole. It was on different levels, the metal beam.
I found something, I was about to push it when the metal beam flew open on the opposite side that I was on.
"Bloody hell," I muttered under my breath, the other side didn't have much light either, just a little, but enough to make you see your surroundings.
