"So you and Joseph hung out AGAIN today during lunch." Amy said. We were in chemistry class and working on a lab.

"Yeah." I said nonchalantly as I put some of the salt in the beaker.

"Is there something going on with you two?" She asked.

I measure 25 mL of vinegar and poured it into the beaker as well. "No, not yet anyway."

"Not yet? So there's IS something that's going to happen." She began to get all excited since she thought she was going to figure something out.

I quickly finished making my observations chart as she put in the last of the materials in the beaker. "Maybe." I shrugged.

The both of us recorded our observations. We finished before anyone in the class, so we just stood there at the counter.

"So...do you like him?" I had a feeling that question was going to come up at some point.

I thought about it for a moment. "Well, I don't know him well enough to completely like him, but I'd be lieing if I said there wasn't something there." I answered honestly.

She smiled. "Are you two hanging out after school?"

"No, I'm hanging out with Jake." I said.

"You guys still talk?" She sounded shocked. I nodded. "I don't think Joseph would like you hanging out with some other guy."

"Well it's not like he owns me." I said. "Besides, I'm sure he won't mind."

The bell rang and we started cleaning up.

"Remember, I expect your lab reports finished and handed in tomorrow." Our teacher called.

Amy took her bag from her desk and I did the same. "So when are you and Jake hanging out?"

"He's picking me up around 4." I said. We were now in our lockers' hallway.

"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow. Have fun." She said.

"Bye."

"Oh, and Skye," I turned around, "if anything happens between you and Joseph, you'd better call me and tell me."

I laughed. "Don't worry, I will."

I turned around and saw Dylan waiting at my locker. "Can I help you?" I lightly shoved him to the side and spun my combination.

"Yeah, actually, you can." He sounded kind of serious. "You can enlighten me with some information."

"What do you want?" I asked, not really caring.

"I want to know who this Jake is." He said. "You know, the one you're hanging out with after school. He's also the one that's NOT JOSEPH. I heard you and Amy talking about it."

"Relax. He's just a friend." I said.

"From your old area?" He asked.

"No. I met him Saturday night." I said.

"What?" He sounded annoyed.

"I met him when Amy and I went to a clu - WHY am I telling you this?" I stopped myself once I realized what I was doing.

"Look, just don't do anything that hurt Joseph." He said.

I laughed. "Wow, that didn't make you sound gay at all." Sarcasm was dripping from every word.

He rolled his eyes. "Oh please, Joseph and I have been friends since we were four, he's like a brother to me."

I closed my locker and slung my bag over my shoulder. "Well you don't need to worry, I'm not a whore."
