Misaki felt rather nervous as she waited for the rest of the meeting to finish. Along with her was Asaka, who represented her fallen coven, they attended as well. She often caught Ren smiling at the witch, which made her feel happy. Misaki only watched over the meeting, however feeling rather bothered a bit.The meeting soon ends, and every royalty start to leave for their realms. She noticed that neither Kai nor Takuto and her uncle had come out of the room. Misaki feared for the worst, but decided to keep calm. She walked to the terrace, which was rather large and overlooked the whole God Realm. The sun had set and the moon was high up. It glimmered ever so brightly, showing it's true beauty in it's fullest form.
"Adoring the moon, huh?"
Kai said with a slight smirk. Misaki didn't look back at him, instead she took a deep breath and sighed.
"Indeed I am." She heard his footsteps nearing her in a slow pace, yet she still hadn't moved.
"I noticed your anxiety during the meeting. What was bothering you?"
Misaki turned to Kai with a poker face, however inside feeling surprised. He had his hands in his pockets, and his eyes glimmered under the moon.
"It's nothing." She told him, though wanting to tell him everything she was feeling.
"Hm..." Kai only looked at her with suspicion. He walked near her and took her delicate right hand. He knelt, and placed a kiss on her knuckles.
"K-Kai?" Misaki's face was flushed, as red as a tomato. She felt her heart beating rapidly, she probably even had arrythmia.
"Dance with me, Tokura." Kai looked up at the blushing girl's green eyes.
"W-What?" Misaki stood there, shocked.
"Dance with me."
"B-But, I... I don't know how..."
"Then, let me teach you."
Kai took her hand and held it, then he took her other hand and placed it on his shoulder while his hand fell on her waist.
"Just follow my lead, okay?"
Not long after, the two began to dance. It was a rather peaceful dance, and silent utmost, yet it meant so much for the two.
"I found out everything about you." Kai suddenly told her. Misaki just sighed.
"So, you know...."
"About how you are the daughter of Cordelia, the goddess of balance?"
Misaki could only hum, leaning on Kai's chest. She felt comfortable and safe in his arms, unlike when she had been a young child. She felt the need to tell the truth to Kai, and so she did.
"When I was a kid, I was always noticed by many people. I had many people come to me and ask if they could be my friend all because I'm the daughter of the most powerful goddess. So when mother died during the Great War, the oracles knew I wasn't safe. I was often bullied and mocked on my mother's behalf. Everyone hated her for her lies. They planned to kill me once since I was next in line to the throne. And so, the oracles took me to Cray and made me a divine spirit. Cray protects me, and in return, I maintain the land's everlasting beauty."
"That's... A sad story." Kai commented after a long silence. Misaki could only giggle.
"Indeed, but that was thousands of years ago."
"I guess we're both old, but young, am I right?" Kai joked. Misaki let out a heartfelt laugh.
It was true. The life span of beings like demons and gods last for eternity. It was both a blessing and a curse the beings carry within them.
"How old are you?" Misaki curiously asked.
"About eight thousand two hundred ninety years old." Kai told her.
"Ah, and I thought I was older. I'm seven thousand eight hundred twenty-five years old."
"Is that so?" Kai had whispered. He leaned his head on to Misaki's shoulder and heaved a sigh.
"You seem tired, Kai. You should probably get some rest." Misaki told the brunette in a worried voice. But there was no response.
"Kai?" Misaki called out once more. His weight was weighing on her, and getting heavier. Misaki checked his well being using her power. She sighed in relief now knowing that he just passed out.
"I guess you haven't been getting enough rest over the past few days." Misaki smiled. She moved Kai from the balcony to her bedroom and laid him on her bed. She moved the blanket and tucked him in. She was about to leave to go to another bedroom when she heard him grunting.
"Ugh... No... Mom... Blossom... Misaki... Don't... Leave... Please!" Misaki was surprised. It seemed that Kai was having a nightmare, and it was rare for demons to have nightmares. Immediately, Misaki rushed to Kai's side. His eyes were squinted and he was clenching his jaw. As soon as she held him to wake him, she saw the horrendous dreams he had.
Blood. Blood was everywhere.
"Kai! Wake up! It's just a nightmare!" Misaki yelled out to him.
Kai jolted awake. His forehead was full of sweat and his heart was beating. He hated sleeping, it would always give him nightmares. It has been awhile since his last slumber, so the nightmares were terrific this night.
Misaki looked at him with sorry eyes. He looked traumatized after the dream. Misaki knew exactly what had caused the dreams, they weren't normal. Kai was still in shock, his breathing was still fast.
Misaki hugged the vulnerable man. She ran her fingers through his hair as he silently cried onto her shoulder.
'Poor thing,' she thought. 'Why did you dream of that ever happening?'
"Its okay, Kai. I'm here. Misaki's here." Misaki hushed at him comfortingly. She felt his grip tighten, indicating that he wanted to protect her.
"M-Misaki..." He croaked out, more tears threatening to spill.
"I love you." Misaki didn't know why, but she felt euphoric once she heard those words fall out of Kai's mouth. Perhaps joyful that he had finally opened up? Or maybe because she too loved him?
"I love you too, Toshiki." Misaki told him back. Finally, Kai had calmed down but he refused to go back to sleep.
"Misaki, I think I too need to tell you something about me."
Misaki looked at the brunette with approval. But deep down inside, Kai knew she'd already known.
The cruel curse his father had casted upon him.
