5000 year ago...

A time when wars against all nations were in their highest peak. Where no one was safe, and no clan had peace. The Demon Clan was at their strongest peak, with the warrior of Link Joker rampaging across the lands of humans and other races. When Zenaku still only had 4 sons then.

Toshiki Kai was the renowned monster that he was, killing over a million humans and beings. He was feared upon by many, as he was indeed the heir to the throne of the Demon Realm. He was heartless, cruel, and emotionless. He felt no pity or remorse whatsoever, or so he thought.

It was around the harvest season, where the warmth of the Sun enveloped the world with her comforting heat. There was plenty of bearings and fruits from harvest, and the people rejoiced in happiness from the blessings of the gods.

Kai was sent on a mission by his father to kill a human princess believed to have both demon, goddess, and human blood within her. She was the reincarnation of the key to eliminate the demon clan. The sacrifice of balance.

Her name was Aika, a beautiful love song. She was loved by everyone around her. Her kingdom treated her with respect and love, while her family gave her everything she'd ever want. She was a humble princess.

Kai started out his mission by observing her daily life. She lived like any human; she would be awake in the day and asleep at night. He had to take on many forms in order to see any abnormality in her.

That was when she saw him.

Kai was in a bird form, observing her play in the courtyard garden. That was when she looked at him with curious eyes. Aika stopped running around chasing butterflies and slowly approached the bird on the tree. Kai didn't move an inch, wanting to know more about her true abilities.

"Brother, why don't you show me your true form and play with me?"

Kai felt shivers down his spine. For the first time he was scared, how did she know?

"I'm not your brother." He spoke in his head.

"What do you mean? You're my brother, Toshiki." Kai was beyond terrified, and was intrigued. He no longer had any interest in killing her. Instead, he wanted to get to know her more.

Coming out of the bird's body, his body appeared in front of the girl. She didn't appear to be shocked, and instead smiled.

"Brother!" Her eyes crinkled and her lips formed a grin. She walked closer to him and embraced his legs. For once, Kai's heart warmed with happiness. It was an odd feeling, but he liked it.

"Lady Aika, get away from him!" A royal attendant screamed. Kai snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the woman. She was beyond terrified when she suddenly saw the demonic aura surrounding him.

Soon, the King and Queen arrived at the courtyard in a rush. They were terrified to see Kai and their daughter together.

"You, don't you dare take my precious Aika-" The Queen spoke, shaken before being interrupted by a blade going through her body. It was Aika's demonic power, not Kai's.

"Shut up, Mother. Don't you dare disrespect my big brother." She spoke with heartless eyes throwing daggers at her parents. Aika then looked at Kai, who was amused at her, and smiled.

"Let's go home now, Brother!" Kai smiled, perhaps his father wouldn't mind.

It took only a few seconds before they were transported to the Demon King's throne room. Though a different atmosphere surrounded the room, one with anger and disappointment.

"Kai," Zenaku's voice was filled with rage and disappointment. "You've disobeyed me."

"Father, forgive me but-"

"There is no forgiveness here in the Demon Realm. You listened to your human heart and brought her here. That is unacceptable."

A maroon miasma surrounded the air, and Aika started coughing. Kai gave her a cloth to cover her mouth with.

"Because you've disobeyed me, you will be punished."

The miasma started circling above him, until it hit him. A heavy force prevented him from moving an inch, and a sharp pain hit his body. It was an unbearable pain.

Aika could only listen to his cries and scream, as Kai started turning into the person he didn't want Aika to see. The psychopath.

Kai began laughing as black and red lines started forming in his face. The miasma had fully taken control of his head. Aika only blankly stared at him.

In his head, Kai wanted to stop. He screamed and begged for it not to happen. He didn't want to kill his little sister.

Then, it happened.

With one swipe, Aika's human soul was removed from her body and eaten by the psychopath that stood before her. Her body dropped dead, lifeless, and cold as continued laughing histerically. Inside his head, Kai knew he lost to Reverse. He had to resist.

"I'll let her live, however harboring only ger demon blood." Zenaku slit his hand and let a waterfall of blood fall to her mouth. A miasma enveloped her body, and moments later, her eyes carefully open.

But Kai will never forget what he himself has done that day.

"Brother, come play with me!" Aika told Leon, who was playing with her in the garden of the kingdom. Kai watched her happily smile and laugh as she played around with his younger brother. He couldn't stop thinking about Aika.

As much as she was happy right now, she didn't belong in his realm. Her soul deserved to move on to the afterlife.

Kai knew what he had to do.

At the dawn of midnight, he waited until the moon appeared fully into view. All he had to do was to kill that goddess and her human lover.

Little did he know, his suffering would only grow with the actions he has done.

He was already betrayed, punished, and torn apart. What else could kill him more other than the fact his lover turned her back on him?
